About Wikipedia project

Hello, professor! I would like to choose "Honjok" as my project.

Honjok is a kind of people who do something alone like a person going to a theater alone or a person eating alone in a restaurant.

I think the reason why these kind of words exist in Korea is that Korea is collective culture so doing something alone is a little bit strange or new for Korean culture.

There is ko:혼족 in Korean Wikipedia. Can I translate this one to English? I saw many students translating English one to Korean one.

In ko:혼족, it has no information about social influence or cultural influence so I can expand them while translating into English. Or I can write new one about Honjok.

I would like to know your opinion about my subject! --Soyeon Park 14:44, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Qkrthdussla, It is an interesting choice, but the article already exists in English at Honjok. That said, you can expand such articles, but I am unsure if there is enough material to expand them for the full project. It may be better to chose a different topic, while you can also expand Honjok in English and/or Korean for some extra credit. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:05, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Piotrus, I did not know Honjok already exists in English Wikipedia. I should have searched Honjok. I only searched "Honbob" :( ...
Then I would like to choose "Watcha" as my subject. It is Korean streaming service like Netflix. It is one of the most popular streaming services in Korea.
I think there is only Korean (ko:왓챠) and Japanese Wikipedia about it so I can choose it as my project. What do you think about it? --Soyeon Park 05:41, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Qkrthdussla, The company is interesting, but note that the Korean article is rather short. You can translate it to English, but you'll also need to expand it. Has the company been covered by major Korean newspapers or discussed by scholars in academic publications? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:31, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, yes, I think some major Korean newspapers have covered the company because of Covid 19 which make ott services more important.
Or I can expand Neflix page in Korean Wikipedia (ko:넷플릭스) by translating English one to Korean one. For now, English Neflix page is way more expanded than Korean one. Would you tell me which one is better? --Soyeon Park 05:35, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Qkrthdussla, If there is coverage about the company, go ahead and give it a try, just keep in mind Wikipedia needs to provide objective facts, and have to avoid advertising language. So for your sources, you cannot use press releases and other material from the company itself. As for Netflix, that topic has already been chosen for translation by your colleague Kim Sungil, so I am afraid it is not available. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:20, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, I am so sorry that I have asked much more questions than other students. This may be my last question about the subject. I have searched Watcha to check how much articles and newpapers are about it. I think there are more press releases than articles and newspapers about Watcha. So can I translate and expand game streaming service Twitch or social network service Instagram to Korean one? I think ko:트위치 or ko:인스타그램 does not have enough information as English one. --Soyeon Park 06:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Assignment Deadline 2 (Week 3): Jung Eunjin & Yoon Chanmi

Hello, professor! I'm Jung Eun-jin, a student in the "Sociology of Everyday Life" class.

I've checked the professor's feedback that the topic I'm trying to do is already selected!

So, I'm going to change the project topic to "Cognitive bias." to "ko:인지 편향"

Thank you for your kind feedback several times.

I'm glad to select this topic. I will work hard on the project!

I'd like to work on a group project with Yoon Chan-mi.

(My student ID is 2020092188, and Yoon Chan-mi's student ID is 2020092933.)

But I'm worried about something.

If I proceed with the Wiki project as a group, will the evaluation criteria be different from the individual project?

Is there anything I should pay more attention to than individual project?

I'd appreciate your feedback on this.

Have a nice day! :) --Eunjin Jung (talk) 02:00, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, Good topic, I have approved it - please add it to the dashboard as one of your selected articles. Regarding the difference between working in a group vs individually, let me quote from the syllabus:
"By the end of September, each student of a group of two students has to 1) select one Korean Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/) related to globalization that does not exist on Korean Wikipedia (https://ko.wikipedia.org/ , for foreign students, we can consider other languages than Korean) and 2) one topic related to globalization that is missing from English Wikipedia. If you do it individually, instead of working on one article on English Wikipedia and one on a different language (Korean, Chinese, etc.) you should choose to either 1) work on one English Wikipedia article OR 2) work on two different articles on non-English Wikipedia"
I hope this answers your question, but if not, please let me know what is still unclear and I'll try to clarify further. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:23, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I understand. Then, is it okay if I ask you one more question? Do we have to translate one article of 'Cognitive bias' by 2 students? Or should we choose one more article? :) --Eunjin Jung (talk) 09:04, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, If you work as a group of two, then you should work on one article in Korean (the translation of cognitive bias would qualify) and also one article in English. Alternatively, you could work on four different articles in Korean. I hope this helps to clarify what is expected. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:30, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, professor. Thank you for your detailed explanation. I totally understand!

We chose one more topic of the article in English.

It is "Women in South Korea."

Therefore, we will carry out the group project based on two topics: "Cognitive bias" in Korean and "Women in South Korea" in English.

If you approve, We will add these topics to our dashboard. And we will start Deadline 3 right away.

Thank you for helping us select the topics. Have a nice day!--Eunjin Jung (talk) 12:33, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, I see. Women in South Korea is an important topic, but the current article is already reasonably long. Please let me know how you intend to expand it - what new sections you will add and what sources will you use? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:24, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We think this article needs to be expanded. Because we think the content of this article is “old.” We will take "the latest issue” related to Women in South Korean as an example. We will add as many specific and diverse examples as possible. The concept of "glass ceiling" or "broken ladder" will address the gender inequality problem faced by women in Korea.

In addition, there are many controversies related to women in Korea now. I think Sexual objectification of women, the feminism movements, and the abolition of criminal abortion could be an example of these issues.

Also, we found that the proportion of women in Korean art and entertainment also increased. We will investigate cases of women's rights increase that can be found in everyday life. We think we can name it the "broken glass ceiling."

We are going to expand this article in this way. Is it okay if we proceed with this topic?

Thanks for reading it! Have a nice day! :) --Eunjin Jung (talk) 10:05, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, Sounds good, well done arguing your case! Topic accepted! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:18, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline3 (Week4) JeongYoon Oh

I finished the deadline 3 assignment. I put articles and quotes in my sandbox. Is this the right way to do it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JeongYoon_Oh/sandbox

Please check it! Thank you! --JeongYoon Oh (talk) 10:05, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, Your sandbox looks correct; to complete the assignment, please add a reference to a live article (outside the sandbox). Then you can tell me which article you updated and I will tell you if it was done correctly. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:17, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think I mistook the assignment. I revised the article "Tteokbokki" on Wikipedia. Please check again. Thank you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tteokbokki--JeongYoon Oh (talk) 11:55, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, I see [1], well done, assignment completed! Good job! You can add that information to Korean Wikipedia for extra credit too! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:22, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[Dead line 2] Hello, Professor! I'm Jina Kim.

Hello, professor. I'm Kim Jina.

I want to translate 'Narcissism' wiki into Korean and expand it. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism) It's a very interesting topic, but it's not written in detail on the Korean wiki, so I want to interpret it.

Can you see if this topic is okay? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kimjina00 (talkcontribs) 15:30, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kimjina00, Yes, ko:나르시시즘 can use an expansion! Topic approved. Please add the topic to your assigned articles in the dashboard and good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:27, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Topic Selection (Kim Yoon/User name: BBam BBam)

Hello, professor! I selected a topic again. How about 'stagflation'? If I can't even select this topic, what about 'emotional labor"? I can't wait to start the interesting wiki project. :') --BBamBBam (talk) 18:09, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BBamBBam, Both ko:스태그플레이션 and ko:감정노동 can use major expansion on Korean Wikipedia, so you can work on either of them (or both). Please add the topic(s) you chose to your assigned articles in the dashboard and good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:30, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to hear that! By the way, I entered our dashboard page but there were some problems. Do you know what happened to it? As soon as this issue is resolved, I will upload the topic to the dashboard. --BBamBBam (talk) 16:19, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
BBamBBam, The dashboard is undergoing maintenance that may take a few days. Hopefully, you can update your assignment in few days; try again next week. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:15, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Owen, again

Hello Piotrus, I hope you are fine. I'm glad we managed to thrash out some improvements for G. E. L. Owen but I was wondering whether it would now be appropriate for you to close the reassessment and update the GA banner. This is the first GA reassessment I've been a part of, so I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding the closure process. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 09:13, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Modussiccandi, Yes, assuming nobody else raised concerns, this is probably appropriate, but let me ping User:Buidhe who may be more up to date on the relevant procedures to double check. Maybe there is a minimum time to leave the discussion open or something? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:14, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked at the instructions at WP:GAR. Under point 7, it says that the page may be closed by the nominator "after the discussion" or by any reviewers after seven days. Have a look yourself, but I think you're entitled to close it at you own discretion. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 00:00, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Modussiccandi, Let's wait until the 7 days pass, just in case someone comes around and makes some other suggestions on how to improve the article. If nobody does, feel free to close it yourself at that point (I am satisfied my concerns were addressed, thanks again). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:21, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Deadline 3 (week4)

Hello professor, I'm Chaehyoseung. In syllabus, you said "You can find a big list of articles with bad or missing references related to Korean topics here." But I can not find the link for it. Where can I find the link. I can speak english well TT. I will wait for your message. Thank you. --Chaehyoseung (talk) 10:26, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, Thank you for alerting me to the missing link. I have updated the syllabus with the link (to this page). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:12, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok professor. Thank you. --Chaehyoseung (talk) 11:42, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3 : Wiki project topic selection (Shinhee Kim, Minkyo Jeong)

Hello, professor. I wanna tell you about the formation of a team for main wiki project and the topics. The team members are Jeong Minkyo, Kim Shinhee, and we are planning to do one English wiki and one Korean. I’m leaving a message on behalf of the team, and if you give us an feedback, we'll check it out together. : )

English Wikipedia Topic : Housing patterns of people in their 20s and 30s in Korea
Reason for Selection: Currently, housing problems in South Korea cause housing types such as "sharehouses" or "one-room" among the younger generation. We would like to take note of this.
Korean Wikipedia topic : Up-cycling (Korean, ‘새활용’)
Reason for Selection: it was considered a notable social phenomenon as a new alternative to the use of disposable products and the seriousness of environmental problems.

Please check our topic and give us feedback. Thank you!! Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 11:04, 24 March 2021 (UTC) Shinhee Kim (talk) 11:05, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Shinhee Kim and Kyokyoyaaaaa, As for your topic. 1) Expanding ko:새활용 with Upcycling is a good idea - approved. Howver, 2) " Housing Types of 2030 Generation in Korea" needs more consideration. The issue is interesting, but the title itself is unclear. You say "housing patterns", which makes more sense, to it should be Housing patterns of 2030 Generation in Korea. But what is the "2030 Generation in Korea"? The 2030 generation has not been born yet. Please consider that Wikipedia is not a place for original research (please see WP:NOR/ko:위키백과:독자 연구 금지] as well as the WP:GNG/ko:위키백과:문서 등재 기준 guidelines. After you read those, and still want to work on that topic, please tell me what academic/newspaper sources you intend to use.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:06, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, professor,Piotrus. I'd like to explain what you said.
There seems to have been an error in our expression. It is regrettable that what we intended was misrepresented.
We are going to work on a project about "Housing patterns of people in their 20s and 30s in Korea." So, it's not about the population born in 2030, it's a project about current young adult generation in Korea.
Currently, housing problems in South Korea cause housing types such as "sharehouses" or "one-room" among the younger generation. We would like to take note of this and proceed with the project. Because it is about the current housing patterns of young people, it is expected to be possible through finding out existing academic and news materials, not new research. There seems to be no problem with originality because it is about the current phenomenon. I wonder if it would be okay to do it this way.
Please check our topic again and give us feedback. : )
Thank you. Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 11:48, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kyokyoyaaaaa, Ah, now I understand. The idea is very good, as long as you can find reliable sources for it. I recommend you submit the list of such sources to me soon (it is required for the outline deadline anyway). However, it is also a small section of the (very poor) article on Real estate in South Korea. Perhaps it would be better to reconsider your topic as writing about the 'Real estate in South Korea' in general, in which you could have a section about the 'Housing patterns of people in their 20s and 30s in Korea'? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:09, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus Hello, professor! I understood what you said, and when I checked the article or thesis on the related topic, I thought it would be a little difficult for us to proceed. So we decided to change the subject, and the newly set topic is "Korean Proverbs." When I looked up related information, I think we could organize the folklore characteristics related to Korean proverbs by investigating the type and origin of Korean proverbs. Academic papers related to the study of proverbial types, such as ethnicity, were also found. I look forward to hearing from you if I can proceed with the changed topic. Thank you. :) Shinhee Kim (talk) 10:51, 27 March 2021 (UTC), Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 10:53, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kyokyoyaaaaa, Yes, the topic of Korean proverbs is interesting and should be written about. Is there a corresponding Korean Wikipeda artice? In either case, the topic approved! Please add it to our dashboard under your assigned topics. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:16, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Week 2 assignment

Hello, professor. This is Chae Eun Park who came to class a few days ago. I have completed Wikipedia training among your assignments. And I registered the dashboard. I'd appreciate it if you could send me an invitation to blog. (I filled out my Wikipedia information on the Google Sheet.)

I have some question.

Hello professor. My name is Ji SooGeun, Information Sociology

I have some question about 'Edit working'

Until this week, I have been working on deadline tasks as soon as the notice is posted on LMS. But today, I read the last notice and I found that I have to make 10 edit every week on Wiki. So, I wonder if I would edit any contents on Wikipedia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by JiSooGeun (talkcontribs) 20:58, March 25, 2021 (UTC)

Dear JiSoo. First, please remember to WP:SIGN your discussion posts. Regarding the '10 edits', yes, you can edit any content you want (uploading pictures counts as well), and half of your edits can be on Korean-language Wikipedia. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:51, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%95%84%EC%B9%B8%EC%86%8C%EC%A3%BC#cite_note-1

This is Korea-version of Bill Clinton wikipedia. It had no reference, so I put reference about 'born'.

Thank you for your lecture. I always thank you!!

Capoco1234, Well done! To make this edit even better, please add the page number to the book citation. Good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:01, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline3 (Week 4) - Gaeun Um

Hello, professor!

I finished my 4th week assignment. Please go into my topic, Economic inequality link and check the assignment.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_inequality#References I left a link to the reference. Thank you!--Garongronga (talk) 16:09, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Garongronga, Good try, but what you have done is not adding a reference, but adding an external link. A reference should be appended (in the form of the footnote) to an otherwise unreferenced sentence. Please read WP:CITE and WP:EL to understand the difference and try again (and watch our videos about adding references). Good luck and let me know when you complete your second attempt! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:04, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

deadline 3(Week 4) : Hyorim Kim

Hello, professor! Week 4 assignment completed. I saved the article I found as an additional reference on my previously set "remix culture" site. Was my assignment applied correctly? Please check! >>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remix_culture#References--Hyorime1213 (talk) 16:22, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyorime1213, Good try, but what you have done is not adding a reference, but adding an external link (correctly formatted in a citation template - that was good!). A reference should be appended (in the form of the footnote) to an otherwise unreferenced sentence. Please read WP:CITE and WP:EL to understand the difference and try again (and watch our videos about adding references). Good luck and let me know when you complete your second attempt! Professor, I finished my assignment. But it was not a language problem, but I had a hard time doing the assignment because I couldn't understand the context. I need more explanation and help than I thought. Thank you. --Sinabeuro (talk) 16:40, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

But I wonder if this assignment is possible even if it is not related to my major. If it has to be related to my major, I will revise other documents additionally. Please check.

--Younjihaa (talk) 18:08, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Younjihaa, Yes, it is ok to edit articles not related to your major. This is excellent, you found a citation needed tag and addressed it. Very good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:34, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear students. First, please remember to WP:SIGN your post correctly. Second. Your sandbox looks correct; to complete the assignment, please add a reference to a live article (outside the sandbox). Then you can tell me which article you updated and I will tell you if it was done correctly. Please note that this assignment (adding a reference) needs to be completed by each student individually; it is not a group assignment - just like the Deadline 1. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:47, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We finished Deadline3 (Week4) - Jung Eunjin & Yun Chanmi

Hello, professor.

We have uploaded news and videos to our sandbox that can be cited in "Cognitive bias" and "Women in South Korea." Please check it. :)

Jung Eunjin's sandbox

Yoon Chanmi's sandbox

And we add a reference to a live article (outside the sandbox).

인지편향 -- We translated this article from Eng to Kor.

Women in South Korea -- We added the 13th footnote to this article.

Thanks for read it. Please give us your feedback. Have a nice day! --Eunjin Jung (talk) 08:54, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, Chanmi0618 Thank you for updating me on your progress. The sources look good. When adding Korean sources to English Wikipedia, please use both Korean (Hangul) and English (use the 'translated title' field to translate the title). Also, please add proper names of the newspapers (Kyunghyang Shinmun not news.khan.co.kr etc.)
Regarding adding a reference, this is correct but I do not see any reference added to ko:인지 편향? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:45, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jiwoo2020, I am afraid I can't verify that you have added this reference (or any other) on English Wikipedia: [9]. Which article did you edit? If possible, please locate and provide me with a WP:DIFF for your edit. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:18, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jiwoo2020, Better, but reviewing your edits, I noticed that while you did correctly add a reference to the paragraph that beings with "Choi majored in aerobic dance..." you also removed another reference from an earlier part of the article, and deleted the section heading 'personal life'. I have therefore restored the previous version. Please try to add your reference again, this time without removing any other existing content. You are halfway there! Deadline 2 (Week3) / Minjeong Lee

Professor, I am Minjeong Lee who is taking a class of collective intelligence.

I'd like to edit two Wikipedia articles.

One is a Korean article about the gender pay gap. I will add the contents based on the English article because this article lacks contents.

English article -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_pay_gap

Korean article -> https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EB%82%A8%EB%85%80%EC%9D%98_%EC%9E%84%EA%B8%88_%EA%B2%A9%EC%B0%A8

The other is an English article about the "Welcome to Video" case. The "Welcome to Video" case is a case in which Korean operator Son Jeong-woo traded video clips of children's sexual exploitation through the website of the Dark Web. There is a Korean article about this, but there is no English article. So I will create and edit a new document.

Korean article -> https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%9B%B0%EC%BB%B4%ED%88%AC%EB%B9%84%EB%94%94%EC%98%A4_%EC%82%AC%EA%B1%B4 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lxxmnmn (talkcontribs) 00:25, March 27, 2021 (UTC)

I finished Deadline 3 (week4) (Kim Hye-Jin)

Hello professor. I finished Dedline 3. I edited three wiki articles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_Kang (I added link.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_So-hee (I added citation.)

HyeJin Kim2, Good start. Regarding adding a link, please read MOS:REPEATLINK. The reference ([10]) was added correctly, and your edit to the heading was technically correct as well (although whether the heading is now too long is something that may be worth discussing on talk). Keep up the good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:29, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please check my Week 4 assignment

Hello, Professor.

I added a new topic to my own Wikipedia sandbox(citation). I'm worried that I didn't fully understand the assignment yet, so please check if I did it correctly.

And I edited a total of 20 edits last week and this week. Can you check it only if I put a link to all the articles I edited..?

Also, I'm going to write an article about 'Beauty Store'. I told you by e-mail and added it to the dashboard. Please check it too. Pkccccj 16:52, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pkccccj, Good start! Your sandbox looks correct. To complete Deadline 3 assignment, please add a reference to a live article (outside the sandbox). Then you can tell me which article you updated and I will tell you if it was done correctly. Regarding your weekly edits I can see them here. Your edits are helpful. In [11] you should change the external link to an internal link. Good job uploading a picture (File:BaeDDuck.png). You can get more credit points by adding a proper category to it (I discuss categories in one of the future videos). Keep up the good job! Deadline 3 (Week4) / Eun Su Seo

Hello, professor! I finished Deadline 3. I added citations to two articles. please check it. Have a nice day!--Lee ye han (talk) 04:56, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lee ye han, Your edit at [12] watch technically (code-wise) correct, but YouTube is not a reliable source, and linking a music video itself is not considered a proper way to reference articles (see also WP:PRIMARY) so you edit was reverted by another editor. Please try to add a reliable reference to an article (hint: it should be based on text, not video). Your edit on Korean Wikipedia is better ([13]). Good luck with your future edits! Ivisy6952, Unfortunately, there were several problems with your edits there and they have been undone by another volunteer. The problems are 1) Namu Wiki is not considered a reliable source and cannot be used as a reference in Wikipedia 2) your reference was a bare URL and was not formatted with a citation template. Please try again, adding a reference to a reliable source (newspaper/book/magazine/journal) and formatting it correctly. Good luck and let me know when your make up edit is ready for a review! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:40, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that there were some problems in the process of carrying out the assignment, and I corrected them. I modified the URL to the correct form and used a Korean article as the reference. Please check the link above again! Thank you always. Have a nice day, professor! --Ivisy6952 (talk) 07:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ivisy6952, Your second attempt [15] appears to be well-formatted, although I recommend you use citation templates. I am not sure why User:MrOllie reverted your second try (without providing any justification). Let's ask him here. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:38, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pkccccj, Good job here. But regarding [16], references are added at the end of a sentence, not a heading. Heading should not have references. Please move your reference to the end of the sentence for which it verifies the facts therein (the end of the 'Synopsis' section?). DeadLine 3(week 4): Jeong Hyeon-su

Hello professor, I edited this wiki article. Please check it. Did I do correctly? https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Lee_Yong-soo_(activist)&action=history --Crocus131 (talk) 22:31, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Crocus131, Yes, good job with this edit. The content is relevant and well referenced, but please double check grammar/vocabulary. For example, you need to capitalize ramseyer into Ramseyer in the last sentence. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:43, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished Deadline 3 (Week 4)

@Piotrus: Hello, professor. I finished Deadline 3 (Week 4). Did I do well? I'll do additional EDIT work after your review. I've added a citation related to Hapkido. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hapkido Please check it. Thank you. --Hyeonyoung Lee 21 (talk) 06:25, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyeonyoung Lee 21, Pretty good, although another volunteer, User:Trappist the monk made some minor fixes [17] (you can thank him using the Wikipedia:Thanks function). Can you clarify if you cite a particular page (190) or did you want to indicate the work (thesis) has 190 pages total? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:35, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My dashboard activity history is displayed strangely. / Suyoung Han

Hello Professor, I am Suyoung Han. I am currently editing Wikipedia, and I checked the activities in the program dashboard.

However, the details were summarized as having written topics that are different from what I edited.

1. I have edited Kkoma Gimbap/Nude Gimbap in the Gimbap section, but the details say that I have written "ไนต์อินทูดรีมส์ ".

2. Also, I edited images of the English Wikipedia Siheung, but the description is written as Q1018337.

Each topic is clearly marked with my ID in the history.

What should I do if topics I wrote and topics in the dashboard activity are different? Thanks for reading my question! --Swamming (talk) 08:44, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Swamming, Hmmm. According to the website status, "The Dashboard is still having problems with database corruption. ". Don't worry about it too much as I can review your articles using other tools. I will award you extra credit for reporting this issue to me in detail :) Ping User:Sage (Wiki Ed) in case you find this error report helpful. Deadline3 (Week4) / Giyeon Woo

Hello, professor. I am done with my deadline3 assignment. Please check whether I did it correctly or not. Thank you!--Woo-Giyeon (talk) 09:28, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Woo-Giyeon, I see [18]. The reference is formatted correctly, but please explain which part of the paragraph does the text support? The reference you added is about the British Parliament, which is not that relevant to the section you referenced. Best, please quote here the Wikipedia text that you are referencing, and then the text from the website you linked that supports it. Jinsin chen, Good job starting your translation in the Chinese Wikipedia namespace, although I am not sure if their Manual of Style allows links to English Wikipedia. Good job with your edit, but please note that for the weekly edits, your edits have to be on articles other tha your m ain project. Good job with your blogging! Finished Weekly Wiki Edit(Kim Yoon/User name: BBam BBam)

I did weekly wiki edit! Link is: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/Hanyang_University/Collective_Intelligence_and_Wikipedia_(2021)/students/articles/BBamBBam Thank you! :) --BBamBBam (talk) 11:16, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BBamBBam, For this week, I only see a single edit you made here. If I missed anything, please link the pages you edited. It is a substantial edit, with a reference, and therefore I would count it for more than a single edit, but please note that's the weekly assignment asks for '10 edits', so I recommend you make more edits. Finished Deadline 3(Week 4) (Kim Yoon/User name: BBam BBam)

I finished Deadline3, and the link is : https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:BBamBBam/%EC%97%B0%EC%8A%B5%EC%9E%A5 Please see it and give me the feedback if there are any problems! Thank you~ --BBamBBam (talk) 11:19, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BBamBBam, I am afraid I do not see any reference in your Korean Wikipedia sandbox that you linked above. Also, please note that to complete the assignment, you need to add a reference to a live article (outside the sandbox). Then you can tell me which article you updated and I will tell you if it was done correctly. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:01, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OMG, I added references but didn't press the 'publish' button! So, of course, you wouldn't have seen anything sorry:0 I corrected it! Could you check it again? --BBamBBam (talk) 06:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Professor~! I have a quesition, so I ask something~!!

Dear Professor Piotrus

Hello Professor!

I'm Young-Joo, Park in "Collective Intelligence" I put some images like this

Wikipedia said this should "My own image", but I can't get this image myself, so I take this image another site and take modify a picture like adding filter effect and so on...

If possible, I'd like to post a photo of myself, but I can't take this picture

So it's okay? or Something should do that? Capoco1234 (talk) 11:30, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Capoco1234, I am afraid that uploading modified images is not allowed. According to copyright, the modification does not give any ownership of the original image, and as such, the image needs to be deleted (ping User:Masur, User:-revi). You can only upload images that you have taken or created yourself, or that are in the public domain or otherwise are freely licenced. If you want to uploaded a photo of someone, found on another website, you need to contact them for permission which they need to forward to Wikipedia volunteers reviewing copyright issues. See commons:Commons:메일 양식 for the text you can use to send them and that they'll need to send to Wikipedia if they want this photo to be used here. Dear Professor Piotrus

I've done Deadline3 and weekly wiki edits. You can see what I've done here. Thanks a lot.

SangminChoe, Nicely done with referencing here and in the other articles, and well done linking to your Korean Wikipedia contribution page. Good job! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copy edit

Hi Piotrus.

Sorry to disturb you but I have been working tirelessly for two months now on the article 'Sigismund III Vasa' and I was wondering whether you can copy edit it (check any mistakes, restructure sentences, grammar etc.). All the references I have included are published book sources with attached page numbers. I have still the 'Legacy' section to do but other than that it is almost complete. My goal is to eventually nominate it and upgrade it to a GA or perhaps FA status (fingers crossed). Oliszydlowski (talk) 12:40, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oliszydlowski, Sure, I'll take a look at it soon! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 3 (Week 4): Adding an inline reference (citation), Minkyo Jeong

Hello, professor! I finished weekly 10 edits and adding an citation in this page :) Also, I registered main Wiki topic in the dashboard system.

Actually, I'm not sure that I did it in a right way... please check my assignments and give me feedback. Thank you :) Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 13:12, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kyokyoyaaaaa, Good job adding the reference here. But I am not sure where are your other weekly edits? The weekly edits don't count edits for your main project/deadlines/posting to my talk page. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:31, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished the assignment for deadline 3 (week 4) -WANG XIAOLING

Hello Professor, I’m Wang Xiaoling of collective intelligence, I finished the assignment for deadline 3 (week 4). This is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Zheng_Shuang_(actress,_born_1991)&diff=1014633603&oldid=1014633421. I also completed 10 Wikipedia task edits this week. In addition, I edited Wikipedia 30 times. Can I get extra credits? Wikipedia has been edited 40 times in total this week. Also please check the blog post about extra credits. Regarding the extra credits task for blogging, I wrote about my thoughts on the book "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life", but the professor left me a message saying that my blog was wrong(This is a reply to my blog link: https://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/03/w3-thoughts-on-reading-presentation-of.html). Can I not get extra credits for writing other books?

Please check my homework, thank you!^^ WANG XIAOLING995 13:37, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WANG XIAOLING995, Good job adding referenced content here, and your other edits look good too. For future extra credit, if you are interested in Chinese film controversies, maybe you could translate the article zh:赵立新 to English?
Do note that per MOS:BIRTHPLACE, information on birthplace is preferred in the body of the article, not its lead. Some of your edits have been reverted; please move the birth place information to the lower section.
Regarding your blog, the blog itself is very good, but you posted it in the wrong blog (the book is for our 'Everday Life' class, but you blogged about it in our 'Collective Intelligence' class blog). If you got invited to the wrong blog, please send me an email about this and I'll invite you to the correct blog so you can copy your blogs there. Deadline3 : week4 Youngsil Lee

Hello, @Piotrus: This week, I finished editing 10 Wikipedia content with a reference addition and also registered Wikipedia main project topics on the dashboard. Please give me feedback after checking. Thank you.--Youngsil (talk) 14:57, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Youngsil, Well done adding referenced content. It looks good, but keep in mind the importance of not only grammar/vocabulary but style. For example, "and made it with all his heart" likely needs rewriting or removing as it doesn't sound encyclopedic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:03, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

finish assignment

@Piotrus: Professor, I've made 10 edits. please check it Hyeonyoung Lee 21 (talk) 15:01, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyeonyoung Lee 21, Good start, but please try to add references to the content you add. For example, [19] - what reliable source confirms that it is famous in those regions? Who is the source of this finding? Or this? You may find that your edits are reverted if no reliable source is provided, particularly for issues related to medicine. See also WP:MEDRS. Deadline3 Assignment ?(WiKi, Chaehyoseung)

Hello professor, I am Chaehyoseung.I finish Deadline3(week4) Assignment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mijoo#Television_shows Please chaek this link. I add some content and add links too. --Chaehyoseung (talk) 16:56, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, Good job editing a table, but what you added are external links, not references. Please try to add correctly formated references (which should take the form of footnotes) and let me know when you are done. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[week4] Lee Yerin

Hello, professor, I'm Yerin Lee.

First of all 1. Blog posting 2. Commenting 3. Editing 10 Wikipedia topics 4. Selecting topics I've finished, please check!

In addition, I have a question. First of all, I finished editing 10 Wikipedia this week on Saturday, March 27th, but when I checked, the Korean editing was not recorded on the dashboard, and a small number of English compilation was deleted. In this case, do I need to edit it additionally?

Secondly, please check my article subject ko: Independent bookstores.

Thank you always.--Yellieyellie (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)@Lee yerin[reply]

Dashboard tool is experiencing some trouble, but don't worry, I can still monitor your activity using other tools. Regarding the content you added that has been reverted / deleted, please check messages I and others left on your talk, it explains why some of it was removed. For example, this was poorly formatted, unreferenced and of unclear relevance. Are those official instagram accounts of Hanyang? If so, they could be added to the external links section; they don't need their own subsections. But don't worry, may of your other edits are good and have not been deleted.
Regarding Independent bookstore, it is an interesting topic but the article is not very good. You can translate it to Korean for extra credit, but for the main project, please choose a different topic. See User:Piotrus/Ideas for students. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:29, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Assignment Deadlin 3: Jung Eunjin & Yun Chanmi

Hello, professor. We checked your feedback. And we understood everything.

We added a reference[1] to the "인지 편향."

Based on the references added to this article, we will continue the translation process.

I think we can add more accurate and diverse references through the translation process.

So we completed Deadline 3. Is it correct?

Please check it. And we're sorry to late.

Now we will start working on Deadline 4. Thank you for reading it. Have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eunjin Jung (talkcontribs) 07:20, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, Good job with [21], it is correctly done. However, as I noted before, this deadline is individual, not a group. Both of you have to add a reference, each from their own account. So one of you still needs to finish this assignment. Good luck! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
