Hey, this is where you can ask me questions if you want. If you have questions about Wikipedia itself, your best bet might be the Teahouse, but otherwise, just click 'New Section', sign your name with those quadruple tildes ('~~~~'), and I'll get back to you when I can. It helps if you ping me. If you don't know how to do this, just copy and paste {{ping|TheTechnician27}}, {{re|TheTechnician27}}, or {{u|TheTechnician27}} before your message.
New page reviewer granted
Hi TheTechnician27. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 17:39, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Rosguill: Thanks so much; I'm happy to help out! I feel dumb for already having a question on my second review, but I just wanted to make sure: I was considering nominating Katherine Brucker for G4, as it was unanimously nominated for deletion for notability purposes last year. If anything, this new version of the article seems to be substantially less complete than what I can glean from the previous version (per a cached lead found through DuckDuckGo, the original started: "Katherine Brucker is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service who is Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cote d'Ivoire. She was Chargé d' Affaires until Ambassador Richard K. Bell assumed office on October 10, 2019. Brucker earned a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.")
- However, this line in G4 gave me pause: "[G4] excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version". Would this mean that I just don't mark the article as reviewed and bring it to AfD instead, or does "not substantially identical" just mean e.g. if this new article were about an entirely different Katherine Brucker? TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 18:58, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- TheTechnician27, first off, feel free to ask questions (either here or at WT:NPR); I'd much rather see questions than mistakes. Regarding this case, G4 is a bit weird in that unless you have admin privileges and can review deleted articles, it's kind of a shot in the dark. In this case, I can confirm your suspicions that the recreated article was in even worse shape than the AfD'd version, so I went ahead and deleted it myself. "Not substantially identical" essentially means that the underlying issue from the AfD discussion clearly remains unaddressed. signed, Rosguill talk 22:19, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Your answer to my question in The Teahouse.
It's not really any excerpt in particular. Just that the whole thing seems to have a slightly Liberal lean in wording. Chewie1138 (talk) 23:59, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
My articles
Hello! I see that you are concerned with the articles I have been creating. As for the D3 games, I agree that most aren't overly notable, with the exceptions of Vitamin (which there is a lot more information I could add to), Last Escort, and possibly the Forbidden Romance series. I was creating them because I noticed the mass amount of redlinked otome titles on D3 Publisher - I haven't even played these games myself, but I enjoyed collecting the data. If you can think of a better way to organize these, please let me know - perhaps a list of D3 Publisher's otome games, where the info could be collected in a table or something but without separate articles? As for Roland (Japanese host), I started that article as a translation from the Japanese article - the blood type came from there and must not have been sourced there. I added it back as I found a reliable news source for it. I have already removed a lot of fancruft from the Roland article (such as favorite foods, liking Love Live!, and a preference for cordless electronics), but there's more I question the need for - though the subject is definitely notable. Thank you for trying to clean up! Londonbeat41692 (talk) 05:26, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Adoption
Hi, I found your entry on the Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters page and was hoping you would be up for ‘adopting’ me. I am new to Wikipedia and interested in becoming a low-key yet dedicated member. I study East Asian art history and religious studies, but I am generally curious about and interested in various topics. I am fluent in English and German and I am a trained library technician. I am keen to contribute by cleaning up and expanding articles, but also perhaps by creating new ones (when the time comes).
I am a little overwhelmed with how to best approach beginning my time on Wikipedia and would appreciate some sort of guidance. As I understood from your adoption post your availability is limited and that suits me quite well as I study full time. If I misunderstood this please let me know how much time you would expect me to set aside for this adoption project. I would be very happy to be adopted by you, but otherwise I would appreciate any tips or advice about how to go forward.
--Zrstnr (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Zrstnr! Sorry for the late reply. There are practically infinite ways to contribute to Wikipedia, and I'm sure it won't be hard for someone with your skillset to find their footing. I'm not very fluent in East Asian art history short of acing a non-Western art history elective some years ago, but I'd be willing to put in as much or as little time as you feel you need. The site's structure under-the-hood is a bit abstruse, so I'd be more than happy to give you the best guidance I can on useful resources, editing philosophies (yes, those exist), creating a user page if you choose to do so, tidying up articles, article creation and deletion, and even detouring outside the English Wikipedia if you feel adventurous.
- I've only been here for a few years, and I've never adopted an editor before. Up until recently, I've mostly been a WP:GNOME, so a lot of my experience is in things with minimal interaction like keeping citations clean, wikilinks in check, and spelling and grammar correct. Beyond that, I mostly stick to new page patrol, the Teahouse, and creating or significantly expanding low-profile articles like Socrates Nelson and most of the Neolithodes stubs. So you could say I'm kind of a celebrity around here. That said, if you'd like to be adopted, consider yourself adopted as a clearly promising editor. You set aside whatever amount of time is reasonable, because at the end of the day, whatever feels the most natural for you is probably what will make you the best editor you can be.
- With all that out of the way, feel free to ask any question(s) that spring(s) to mind as a new editor. Just whatever comes to mind, unfiltered. Doesn't matter if it seems silly or nebulous or too complex or too simple or anything. It's been a long while since I was on the other side of the looking glass, and so I want to – as best I can – step into your shoes. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 04:30, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hey TheTechnician27 sorry for taking a while to respond. I had to finish up a few things and am looking forward to jumping into Wikipedia now that things have settled. I think, to begin, I would be interested in checking and cleaning up citations. Also being a WP:Gnome sounds very appealing.
- How do you think I should get started? Just go through random pages and check the links? I suppose I feel overwhelmed with where and how to begin. I need some kind of methodical or systematic approach and I’m a bit unsure of how to get into the whole editing process without feeling like I’m just all over the place and nowhere at the same time. Maybe you’re working on something that I could assist with in this regard? I hope well and look forward to taking the next step!

Pending changes reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Help
Hello ,Thetechnician27 will you please help me to review my article? Please reply sir/madam — Preceding unsigned comment added by TrueStarTruck (talk • contribs) 08:46, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, TrueStarTruck. Unfortunately, I'm not an AfC reviewer, so I can't take any action in reviewing either of your drafts, though upon looking at Draft:MD Salman, it seems that KylieTastic has quite reasonably declined it on the grounds of the draft not establishing the subject's notability. Likewise, I looked at Draft:BINOD THARU, and I'm quite confused, insofar as its contents seem to have been taken directly from the article Binod (meme). Perhaps even more confusingly, this meme seems to have spilled over into your draft for MD Salman. In any case, Kylie may be able to look at Draft:BINOD THARU and review it, as they're quite an experienced editor. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 09:11, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
help
re History of the Jews in Hull HI I am becoming quickly demoralised about my experience on wikipedia, that the hundreds of hours of work I have put in have led to a messed up article that I an going to have to abandon. I am particularly concerned by the not so subtle intimidation by some guy called rockandrollmancer or some such.I would be grateful if you could review the position and advise.

Dear TheTechnician27 re History of the Jews of Hull Thank you for involving Graeme Bartlett. This has provided with some breathing space.. your response was very helpful and effective. I have added many references, and edited down some of the worst areas of text, and plan to continue. I hope you can see the progress. It is difficult/impossible during the pandemic to check my original sources, some of which are currently inaccessible in archives 200 miles. Meanwhile someone called " rocknrollmancer " continue to intimidate me, deliberately making mostly unhelpful changes with spurious justifications (one was a good addition), picking rather cleverly on sensitive topics, deliberately trying to provoke. When I removed the one most unjustified of these changes he stuck up something about "WP ownership" and sent a message about some edit to British Airways that I don't really understand. Looking at his talk page (if that is the right term) I see that he is often involved in "edit wars" and in his own words "there are now repeated accusations against me of bite, team tagging, racism, sexism and hate". It also looks to me as if he edits the pages of left wing MPs and gets in dispute with left wingers, and this spills out onto twitter. Anyway it is as if a piece about an old dying Jewish community is just irresistible for him to play his rather sadistic game. At present it seems best to ignore him, as he is really not interested in the topic just in a fight. Please help and advise. I will now try to sign this entry Philip Sugarman Philip Sugarman (talk) 15:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Cesar Jimenez
Hi Mr Technician!
Thank you for your offer of assistance.
The politician's name is:
Hon. Jimenez, Cesar Jr. "Jawo" He has no wiki page.
He is a sitting congressman in the Philippines House of Representatives (wiki reference: Philippine House of Representatives )
I would like to use the template https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_officeholder/example#General_office
I am an ex-journalist and copyeditor, i just need assistance setting up the templates etc.
Any suggestions on other templates I'll need etc would be greatly appreciated. I'm a complete wikiNoob.
Jackson Friedman (talk) 10:02, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Jackson Friedman
- Hi again, Jackson! I looked into Cesar Jimenez Jr., and I couldn't find any significant coverage from reliable, independent sources (e.g. news, books, etc.). However, Representative Jimenez, as you said, is a member of the Philippines House of Representatives – an elected, national political position, which does give him presumed notability under our notability criteria for elected officials. I was wondering if you know of any sources which discuss him in significant detail, as this would help establish notability – which each article's subject has to meet in order to merit its own article on Wikipedia – and it would help in starting an article. These can be in any language, such as English, Filipino, Chavacano, etc., but the important thing is that they be considered reliable, be independent of Jimenez himself, and give him more coverage than simply a passing mention. If sources like this can't be found or if just one or two are found, I'll reach out to an editor more experienced than I am – MarkH21, who frequently deals with East Asian subjects – and see if they think Representative Jimenez passes inclusion criteria.
- PS: no worries on being a wikiNoob! It's really easy to get lost in Wikipedia's inner workings – sometimes even for experienced editors – but it's all really intuitive once you've spent a while editing.TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 11:24, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion Elemental 4
I believe speedy deletion isn’t needed because there is a big community in Elemental 4 about 150 elements per day, which require votes to be added, so there is a big community of suggesting and voting!
Also, the thing is deleted and I have a backup can I remake the page, if my reason is valid. WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 19:08, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, WikiMakersOfOurTime. An article that has been speedily deleted can be recreated. The article was deleted for WP:A7, which means it lacked what's called a "CCOS", or credible claim of significance. The original article did not have one, which is why I nominated it for speedy deletion, and Izno deleted it on those grounds.
- However, while a credible claim of significance would save the article from being deleted immediately, the article would quickly be nominated to Articles for Deletion, or "AfD", where editors debate whether or not an article should be kept based on Wikipedia's inclusion criteria. Often these discussions are hotly contested, but sometimes, the "support for a proposal is so overwhelming or so obvious that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that it could fail", which is known as an avalanche. Realistically, I don't believe this article's subject could possibly survive an AfD discussion, as it doesn't meet the general notability criteria or the criteria for web content notability. Because of this, it doesn't matter how well-written the article is – it wouldn't matter if I rounded up the 1000 best editors on the project and had them collectively write an article on the game; it would still be deleted on the grounds of notability. Creating an article is one of the most difficult tasks for a new editor, and a huge part of that is determining in the first place what subjects pass these notability guidelines. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 19:33, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Well I say it’s notable enough how do I get it to the AFD? WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 22:34, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- @WikiMakersOfOurTime:: If you would like to recreate the article, you can go to this webpage and create it exactly as you had it – so long as you provide, within the article, a credible claim of significance (please read WP:CCOS). If you can provide this CCOS within the article, it will not be speedily deleted per A7, but please take my word that this is what will happen instead:
- Well I say it’s notable enough how do I get it to the AFD? WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 22:34, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- The article will be nominated to AfD within hours or even minutes of being published on the mainspace.
- Over the course of seven days, the article will be unambiguously be voted to be deleted, as there is no credible argument based on Wikipedia's policy or guidelines for the article to be kept. If you would like to seek out experienced users to look at the discussion, please see WP:CANVASS for what constitutes appropriate notification. AfD is ultimately based on policy and guidelines, not on majority vote, so you'll need a compelling rationale based on policy/guidelines for why the article should remain. Please see WP:N, WP:WEB, WP:RS, and WP:INDY for, respectively, what our general notability guidelines are, what our web content notability guidelines are, what constitutes a reliable source, and what constitutes an independent source. These four concepts will be critical to making any sort of compelling, discussion-swaying argument should one exist.
- In the seven day interim that the deletion discussion takes, the article will not be marked as "reviewed", meaning it will not be indexed on search engines.
- The article will now have a much more higher standard to possibly be recreated in the future, as a Delete vote at AfD ensures any attempt to recreate the article can be speedily deleted under WP:G4 so long as the issues discussed at AfD have not been obviously resolved.
- Whether or not the article is recreated and/or deleted isn't my decision to make, but this is my understanding as a fairly experienced editor of what will happen. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 22:54, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- While I do believe based on your experience it will get likely voted down, I’ll still try, there’s nothing I lose from trying. WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 22:56, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- I have a backup of the page, but I updated the page a few times and it doesn’t have if it, is there a way to get the page pre-deletion? WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 22:58, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- @WikiMakersOfOurTime: Interesting; I don't see it either, nor do I see it in your edit history. You should be able to go to this page specifically, copy-paste the original article into the text box, add a CCOS if you haven't already as discussed before, and click 'Publish page', and it should show up in the mainspace. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 23:18, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- No i mean is there a way to get the article before you deleted the thing? WikiMakersOfOurTime (talk) 23:20, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- @WikiMakersOfOurTime: Oh, sorry about that; I misunderstood. I thought you meant you already had an offline copy and just wanted to recreate it using that. @Izno:, as an administrator, would be able to view it pre-deletion and provide you – being its sole author and therefore its copyright owner (provided everything written was your own original material, the copyright is yours under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License) – with a copy of the article. Izno, your thoughts? TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 23:28, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
