I’m sure we all want to avoid any errors in this article, but the edit summary suggest that this anonymous new editor may have a WP:Conflict of interest here. So I have reluctantly reverted to the previous version, so that we can discuss here first. Thanks. Lady C has never identified as intersex - she is biologically female, was born a female and identifies as such. Someone has just edited the article to state "she exhibited intersex characteristics" by applying their own subjective judgement that fused labia are an intersex characteristic. Unless Lady Colin Campbell identifies as intersex, Wikipedia editors should not call her intersex. Balalalou (talk) 22:11, 13 April 2021 (UTC) |

Times Article
In an article in The Times on Saturday 26th September 2009, Lady Campbell said that she had been registered as a boy when she was born due to a "genital defect"; but before she was 3 years old many people had already commented that it must be a mistake. The article says she had corrective surgery when she was 21. Kegon (talk) 09:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Is she actually a Lady?
Does she actually have the option of keeping the title after divorce? Its not really the same as lower mortals who can remain Mrs Joe Bloggs surely? PeterM88 (talk) 23:09, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, she keeps the title unless she remarries. Zacwill (talk) 00:47, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes she has the right to keep the title unless she remarries, however her title change when divorce . WHile married she was known as The Lady Colin Campbell , when divorced she is oficially known as Georgia, Lady Collin Campbell.
Does anyone know where this marriage took place - I can't see it in English or Scottish records?Sebmelmoth (talk) 14:34, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- It was in New York. And all over before it began. Valetude (talk) 19:56, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- The current source used in the article The Daily Telegraph says it was in Maryland: "Thus prepared, they trotted off to Maryland, to tie the ill-fated knot. By way of honeymoon, he took her on a pub crawl, and invited a stranger to join them for their wedding night." Martinevans123 (talk) 19:07, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Is she really completely female?
Is there any independent medical confirmation of her claim that she was born female? She looks like a male-to-female transsexual to me and she also adopted rather than having children naturally.TheMathemagician (talk) 20:44, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "independent medical confirmation", but Wikipedia follows the lead of reliable sources, and this Telegraph article provides sufficient verification of the information in question. If there are other reliable sources that disagree with this source, our neutral point of view policy requires us to describe the views of all reliable sources neutrally, fairly, and without bias. In any case, the personal opinion of a Wikipedia editor over how she "looks" is not relevant here. Mz7 (talk) 00:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- You're not sure what I mean by "independent medical confirmation"? It seems extremely straightforward. All the references for this article are interviews with LCC or recycled PR output. I am asking if there are any statements on the record from doctors confirming her extraordinary life story.TheMathemagician (talk) 00:34, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- *facepalms* You're right, I apologize. I should have understood that right away. I don't have enough knowledge of the subject to know whether such a confirmation exists, but I don't see a compelling reason not to trust an independent media organization like The Daily Telegraph to do their own fact-checking prior to publication. Mz7 (talk) 02:14, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
- The Telegraph piece is, I'm almost certain, not a news article as such. It is a book review of the subject's autobiography A Life Worth Living. The information about the subject is taken from the book. Note particularly that the piece ends: "I STILL don't know what to make of her, or what to believe". 86.135.129.90 (talk) 12:34, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- "Early life" states that she was born as George, but then it says she had deformed female genitals. In other words, she wasn't born George; she was born a girl and then the parents decided to make her a boy. Should be corrected to say she was born female but was then assigned the role of a boy. Castle Goring
Castle Goring appears to be registered as 14 Castle Goring Mews and sold for £355,000 in October 2011 - less than other houses in the set. There is no house showing as sold at £700,000 or anything like. Post code BN13 3UD - which may not be right for the Castle. Sebmelmoth (talk) 10:27, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Info box birth name
If, as the article states, she was 'christened George William' due to the doctors' decision that it'd make her life easier, and at the age of 21 changed her name to Georgia Arianna, she wasn't, as the infobox states, 'born Georgia Arianna Ziadie', was she? I mean, I understand this sort of thing is sensitive nowadays, but the infobox directly contradicts sourced statements in the article proper.
Edited the article to reflect this (the change of name appears to have come about in January this year, and gone unremarked): although this probably arose due to someone genuinely trying to be sensitive, this is not at all the same thing as when a male transitions to a female; she was always female, despite the genital malformation, and was therefore a female christened with a male name as the decision was made based upon medical advice to raise her as a male. The fact that she was a girl with a boy's name is not, of course, usual, but any statement to the contrary is demonstrably false. Until the age of 21, she was 'George William Ziadie', then changed her name to reflect the fact that she's female. Her birth name was NOT Georgia Arianna Ziadie, notwithstanding the subsequent provision of a birth certificate more accurately reflecting the situation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.117.59 (talk • contribs) 17:40, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- Agree with the above, but I'm also wondering - what is her currently legal name - Georgia Arianna Campbell? "Lady Colin Campbell" is a title not a name. Ivar the Boneful (talk) 17:12, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- There may be a difference between the names that appear on a legal birth certificate and the names that are given during a Christian christening ceremony. Perhaps this is from where the current confusion has arisen? Martinevans123 (talk) 13:36, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hippo43 you've gone ahead and made these changes. But it's not clear to me that we know what's on the birth certificate? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 11:23, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what your question is. --hippo43 (talk) 00:43, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- I guess I'm asking what should be used in the infobox - the name on the birth certificate, the name used at the Christening or something else? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:37, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
