Contention and Conscious
I just linked his blog, "Contention and Conscious," in the "External Links".
I have no idea how tall he is but he's not 'He stands 76 feet 7 inches (2.01 m) tall.' Can someone who knows how tall he is change it Howphil 00:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Is there anyway we could make this article a little more encyclopedia-like? --unsigned
dj k-no
I removed the previous citation, and replaced it with a citation-needed. The previous citation was to http://www.coastradio.org/djkno.html . This page meerly proves that that "DJ K-No" exists. Not that it's Krist Novoselic. 67.188.7.78 11:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
"Suicide"
Concering Cobain's death, i think we're overly politically correct if we refer to it as "alleged" suicide. Yes there are conspiracy theories, like for many other famous deaths, but do we really need to mention every point of view as soon as there is a [minority] dissenting view? --unsigned
I recommend we stick to "suicide" and link to it to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain#Addiction_and_death --unsigned
(Above signatures added; moved top comment from bottom. --Jack (Cuervo) 06:00, 16 September 2005 (UTC))
I agree with the link, but I think something like "(alleged) suicide" would work better. --Jack (Cuervo) 06:00, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
Where he eats
Anyway we could mention that he frequents the Columbian Cafe in Astoria, Oregon, and has lent his jukebox to the cafe's bar: the voodoo lounge? Or stuck a fly in Jake Danners Beard while sucking up sum Organiclly Spiced Placenta from the front of the Cadillac grill.
Make a Miscellaneous or a Trivia tab- add that (if you have a source) --Mynabull 00:55, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

First: If you are going to add something, at least spell it correctly. Second: CITE, CITE, CITE!
Yeah apparently putting a fly in shaky jakes beard- right under uriahs organic placenta breakfasts. Bold text

Where did the pic go? This one sucks!

Height
I read he was 7'2. Nukleoptra 11:26, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- i read on the list of tall men article that he is 6'7". he towers over kurt in videos and i think kurt is normal height...
IMDB has him listed at 6' 7". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.211.71.137 (talk) 06:32, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
The bassist? I think not...
I have always understood that Cobain was the bassist. Maybe this is vandalism, maybe just an error. I don't have time to look right now, but someone should fix this if it is wrong. Hurrmic 14:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- I would highly recommending spending three seconds looking it up before posting something like that. -- ChrisB 22:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- You are correct, ChrisB, I was clearly too hasty, did not research it, and should not have posted that comment. i don't usually rush to judgement like that, and I obviously can no longer entirely rely on my aging brain for accurate recall. I don't know how I came to think Cobain was the bassist. My bad! Hurrmic 20:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
This article needs a section on politics
Novozelic created JAMPAC, an organisation whose purpose was to fight for freedom of speech for musical artists.
Novoselic has been particularly concerned with ballot access. He spoke about ballot access at the 2006 Libertarian National Convention.
- He was scheduled to speak at the WA libertarian party convention this past saturday, 3/28, if anyone wants to look into it and add info Tuggler (talk) 14:48, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
He wrote a book titled, if I remember correctly, Of Grunge and Government.
He has donated $250 to Ron Paul for his 2008 bid for the presidency.
He is, I believe, a registered Democrat.
So, yeah, a politics section is much needed for this article.
Allixpeeke (talk) 05:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely should be a politics section as it has been part of his public life. However, as I recall he formed JAMPAC in the mid-90s, not recently as the article currently implies. Also, I recall him using his celebrity to draw attention to the Serb-Croation war, which might be worth adding if someone is knowledgable. CAVincent (talk) 01:20, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Needs to be cropped to show Novoselic only. Don't know how to do it myself but somebody does... Speedboy Salesman (talk) 14:10, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
this article is totally non sourced, and is laughable —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.194.120 (talk) 09:36, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
I can only second that... both pictures right now are laughable. It looks like an explicit statement that Krist is almost invisible... on the first picture you have to guess who is Kirst and the second one is a good Kurt Cobain photograph, but nothing else... --Demon from Walmart (talk) 05:43, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I took a bunch of pictures of him this evening, uploaded them to Commons, and placed these and what was there before in Commons:Category:Krist Novoselic. I recommend Commons:Image:Krist Novoselic 15A.jpg (at right), but I leave it to someone else to select one to use. - Jmabel | Talk 06:44, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- That's a good picture well done —Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlie3322 (talk • contribs) 18:46, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Diacritic?
What's with the diacritic over the "c" in his surname in several places in the article? As far as I know, this American-born person never used that form of his name. - Jmabel | Talk 06:36, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. It might be on his birth certificate (just guessing), but I don't recall ever seeing his name that way and he doesn't use that form on his current blog. If it can't be verified it should be removed. CAVincent (talk) 01:14, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Since no one else spoke up, and I am unable to find a single instance of the diacritic other than wikipedia or articles obviously derived from wikipedia, I have remove. CAVincent (talk) 20:36, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Foo Fighters Section
This is not accurate. There is a youtube video from 2009 interviewing krist in vancouver and he stated that Dave Ghrol never asked him to join foo fighers. Also I do not believe he ever sang backing vocals on one by one.. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8GmuZZH_YM&feature=related

- Huh. Just came over here with the intent of providing the same link. If anyone decides to work further on this article, this is a very good source, especially on Novoselic's community and political involvements. - Jmabel | Talk 01:44, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
2008 and Ron Paul
Novoselic donated money to the Paul campaign in 2008. See: http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/krist-novoselic.asp?cycle=08
But he also voted for a Democratic primary. See end of this piecehttp://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2008/02/krist_novoselic_presidential_p.php
So edit will reflect this. (99.121.59.221 (talk) 12:43, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
ok, the ccr thing is funny...

He is underrated!
I think Krist deserves more in this Wikipedia page... I feel that people should contribute more and grow this page larger. He is an amazing player on bass, acoustic and accordion. So as you may... help with this maybe — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanzatiwa (talk • contribs) 10:47, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

MERRY CHRISTMAS — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanzatiwa (talk • contribs) 10:11, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
Biography info: As the bassist of the grunge band Nirvana, Krist Novoselic was a part of the music revolution that brought alternative rock to the mainstream. Synopsis Krist Novoselic was born on May 16, 1965, in Compton, California. In 1988, Nirvana had its first single, "Love Buzz." They released their debut album, Bleach, in 1989. Nirvana ended up signing with Geffen Records. Their first release with the label, 1991's Nevermind, became a huge hit. The band split up after Cobain's suicide. In 2002, Novoselic was part of another supergroup, Eyes Adrift.
Early Life Musician, songwriter, activist and author Krist Novoselic was born on May 16, 1965, in Compton, California. As the bassist of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic was a part of the music revolution that brought alternative rock to the mainstream. The son of Croatian immigrants, he spent many of his early years in Gardena, California, making mischief with his younger brother Robert.
The family moved to the small logging community of Aberdeen, Washington, in 1979. Only 14 at the time, Novoselic found the rainy northwestern town depressing and had a difficult time fitting in at school. The next year his worried parents had Novoselic go to their native Croatia to live with relatives, where he discovered such punk rock acts as the Sex Pistols and the Ramones.
After returning to Aberdeen, Novoselic began exploring his interest in music during his senior year of high school. He bought a guitar and took some lessons. Around this time, his brother Robert had a friend, Kurt Cobain, that came over to their house sometimes. But Cobain did not make much of an impression on Novoselic until later. Novoselic graduated from high school in 1983 and had some surgery done on his jaw to correct a severe underbite soon after.
Seattle Scene For a time, Novoselic worked as a painter, but he was eventually laid off. He also played in a few local groups and even tried to start a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band with Cobain, according to the book Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana by Michael Azerrad. With his girlfriend Shelli, Novoselic moved to Arizona in 1986, but they only stayed six months. They returned to Washington, and Novoselic soon started working with Cobain on a new band.
What would become Nirvana started out as a trio, with Novoselic, Cobain and drummer Aaron Burckhard. In 1987, they started playing house parties and other small gigs in Olympia. Using the name Skid Row, the band played on Evergreen State College's radio station. They toyed with a few other names before finally settling on Nirvana.
The next year, Nirvana had its first single, "Love Buzz," released by the small independent label Sub Pop Records. By this time, Burckhard was out and Chad Channing had taken over drumming duties. Nirvana's popularity in the emerging Seattle music scene was growing, and they released their debut album, Bleach, in 1989. To promote the record, the band toured extensively, playing gigs across the United States and in Europe. That same year, Novoselic married his longtime girlfriend Shelli.
Novoselic and Cobain were in search of a new drummer in 1990. That summer, Nirvana served as an opening act for Sonic Youth, an indie band they much admired. Longtime friend Dale Crover of the Melvins played the drums for the tour. They soon found a permanent replacement in Dave Grohl, who had previously played with Scream and Dain Bramage.
Big Break Soon the major labels became interested in the group, offering contracts with large advances. Nirvana ended up signing with Geffen Records. Their first release with them, 1991's Nevermind, became a huge hit, driven in part by the single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." While Kurt handled most of the songwriting duties, all three band members worked on this track, which combined elements of punk, metal and pop. "I remember when we first did it, it was nothing special. But after it was recorded, I thought, 'Hey, this is really good. It really rocks,'" Novoselic told Michael Azerrad for his book, Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana.
The video for "Smells like Teen Spirit"—subversive take on a pep rally—got heavy play on MTV. In nearly a year's time, Nevermind sold more than 4 million copies. Nirvana, with raw, emotional sound, helped launch what was called the grunge movement, which often captured feelings of alienation and frustration. They paved the way for other bands, such as Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, to become well-known national acts.
The pressures that came with all of that success weighed heavily on the group, especially Cobain who sank deeper into drug abuse. Cobain's relationship with singer Courtney Love also put a strain on band relationships. Things were especially tense when Cobain uninvited Shelli Novoselic from his wedding to Love because he believed that she was gossiping about his wife-to-be in February 1992. As a result, Krist decided not to attend the ceremony either. "After that, I was pretty estranged from him. It was never the same," Novoselic told Charles R. Cross in his book, Heavier than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain.
Death of Curt Kobain
The band made one more studio album together, In Utero (1994). Rolling Stone called it "brilliant, corrosive, enraged and thoughtful, most of them all at once." While Cobain handled the lyrics, Novoselic and Grohl helped write the music for one track, "Scentless Apprentice." Still, Cobain was increasingly distant and became more depressed. He attempted suicide by overdosing on drugs in March 1994 in Rome while on vacation during the band's European tour. On April 5, 1994, Cobain killed himself at his home.
Novoselic mourned the passing of his once close and longtime friend along with the rest of the world. After Cobain's death, the remaining members of Nirvana won a Grammy Award for their live acoustic recording, MTV Unplugged in New York (1994).
After Nirvana After Nirvana, Novoselic has devoted a lot of his time to activism. He was president of the Joint Artists and Music Promotions political-action committee in the mid-1990s. The organization fought against legislation aimed at regulating music lyrics. In 2004, Novoselic's book Of Grunge and Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy! was published.
While he reportedly turned down an offer to join Grohl's band, the Foo Fighters, Novoselic has continued to be involved in the music world. After Nirvana, he formed Sweet 75, which produced one self-titled album released in 1997. Novoselic also directed and produced the film L7: The Beauty Process, which followed the struggles of an all-female hardcore group. In 1999, Novoselic played with Jello Biafra, formerly the lead singer of the Dead Kennedy, and Kim Thayil, a guitarist who used to be with Soundgarden. The trio performed at a special show in Seattle as part of a protest against the World Trade Organization.
In 2002, Novoselic was part of another supergroup, Eyes Adrift. The band featured Curt Kirkwood, previously with the Meat Puppets, and Bud Gaugh, the drummer of defunct band Sublime. This trio did not last long, however. They produced one self-titled album together. Novoselic currently plays with the California punk band Flipper. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanzatiwa (talk • contribs) 10:14, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Looks like the page was deleted. There's an archived version, but I think it was fake. https://web.archive.org/web/20200602211421/https://www.facebook.com/KristNovoselicOfficial/ - Scarpy (talk) 21:52, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
