Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Continued disruptive addition of fancruft by several users ranging from new to extended confirmed. TAXIDICAE💰 17:33, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Extended confirmed protected for the duration (or until it's time to downgrade). Did not see any EC users adding the promotional material (possibly, I missed it). El_C 17:44, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Vanamonde (Talk) 18:05, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. ― Qwerfjkl|✉ 18:09, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Arbitration enforcement (AP2): persistent disruptive and unconstructive edit requests by IPs and new accounts of a NOTHERE nature in the very recent short term. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 18:17, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: IP vandalism/disruptive editing- continues adding nonsense request to talk page about entirely unrelated information. Already reported IP at AIV as well. Magitroopa (talk) 19:32, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 21:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – The verdict in the trial has been reached and there is disruptive editing. Wgullyn (talk) 21:18, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Temporary extended protection: BLP Policy Violations. SuperiorWalrus(talk)(contribs) 21:20, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: I don't see any BLP violations at this time. It just simply a good faith edits that are few edits reverted for tweaking reasons. It don't even have "reverted" tag in the edit history. 36.77.95.2 (talk) 21:37, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Template doc page that's been the target of recent blanking vandalism. I don't think it needs template editor level protection yet. BilCat (talk) 23:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite pending changes protection: Is not even a real thing it is just a fictious project as other pages such as celebrities WolfeReAds (talk) 04:32, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- @WolfeReAds:I highly doubt this will be done as you have provided no legitimate reason to lower the protection. Dronebogus (talk) 04:44, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- @WolfeReAds: Did you read the article? Even the preview popups I use make it clear the article is about works of fiction. This is like arguing a page about a celebrity should be unprotected because the article states the guy was only popular in Oak Grove, Kentucky. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 07:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

- Previously page did not meet musical notability criteria but after winning a grammy with Tennesse State Marching Band title meets said criteria 2600:1700:F991:9E50:F923:CBAA:724D:8AFE (talk) 05:03, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- I believe Robert McClenon's response to you at Del Rev (11 Jan) was along the lines of "create a notable draft first, then we'll deal with unprotection". Zinnober9 (talk) 05:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary pending changes protection: Reduce the protection to pending changes, as all vandals that triggered the temporary semi-protection are all ip users. It would be greatly appreciated if the semi-protection is reduced to pending changes for the remainder of the duration. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talk • contribs) 18:57, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Unprotection: I have attempted to discuss with El C on Alison Collins talk page. I did not receive a favorable reply. Requesting removal of protection regarding Alison Collins Removal of Temporary Semi-protection: Requester of temporary semi-protection made several false claims in order to dupe an editor El C to grant temporary semi-protection for 60 days. Requester of temporary semi-protection made false claims that edits are editorializations. The edits are not editorializations. They are fully supported and cited by a wide number of unbiased news sources. Second claim by requester, BriefEdits, "Lots of anonymous and shifting IP edits makes it difficult to debate over content issues and neutrality let alone basic manual of style upkeeping." That claim is false and misleading. There is only one editor he is referring to that has an anonymous IP, and that is me. However, my IP is static and has been for all the edits I've made to the article. I have seen on several occasions that BriefEdits uses the practice of deleting other editor's edits to this article, dubiously claiming NPOV, and then paradoxically, BriefEdits introduces NPOV content as a replacement for the deleted edits. BriefEdits makes also a false claim that it is difficult to debate over content issues, neutrality, manual of style upkeeping. That is not true either. BriefEdits and I have engaged in discussion on numerous talk pages. My guess is by BriefEdits requesting semi-protection for an article, he or she intends to lock out any competing edit from any other editor that may offer useful contribution for an unreasonable long time for a lock out of 60 days. Perhaps shorten the lock to a week or remove it entirely. The article continues to suffer from vagueness and lack of clarity due to a low number of unique contributors. By lifting the lock now, the article has a chance to be improved by willing contributors, including by BriefEdits, instead of having to wait 60 days for the article to languish in usefulness due to lack of improvement. Sincerely this anonymous static IP, 2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 06:14, 20 April 2021 (UTC) Edited 2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 06:45, 20 April 2021 (UTC) Edited2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 09:03, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- The same request is also being discussed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Alison_Collins -2601:645:C001:4A40:D87C:717C:A09D:1C84 (talk) 16:10, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Unprotection: Only ~150 transclusions - was protected following an incident of vandalism in 2018. Extended protection should be sufficient (protecting admin hasn't seriously edited since 2019). Elli (talk | contribs) 07:24, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Article under scrutiny and people are vandalizing. Jorm (talk) 21:34, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.
