$3.3 million chopper is the most advanced and well-equipped of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.

The campaign, backed by Aucklanders such as broadcaster Paul Holmes and businesswoman Michelle Boag, covered half the $3.3 million for the new helicopter. The other half was financed by the trust.

The chopper has night-vision equipment, at a cost of $15,000 per pilot, to provide safer flying after dark. Mr Wikaira said 50 per cent of missions were carried out at night.

Team New Zealand is back in Auckland training with fellow challengers Oracle who have just launched their second new boat. According to Chris Dickson, team skipper and CEO, USA 98 "feels pretty special,”.

It had better. Teams are only allowed to build two new Americas Cup boats per regatta, a move designed to try and keeps costs down. An 'arms war' of sorts began in 1992 when Italian Il Moro di Venezia built five boats to stymie the New Zealand Challenge in the Louis Vuitton Cup final. They were beaten in the cup final by America3 who had four built.

Oracle is trailing third behind Alinghi and Emirates Team New Zealand. Team New Zealand launched their second new boat, NZL 98 in mid October 2006 to compliment the 2006 ACC Season Champion title and Americas Cup table-topping NZL 84.

The aim of the New Zealand Written Examinations Manuals section is to build up a manual that eventually can be used as a sole means of study by people who are sitting the various New Zealand exams.

This is going to be done in two steps. The first step is to set up the subjects with their syllabus items and knowledge requirements. The second step is to replace the knowledge requirements with actual content. This is to provide a level of quality control and to ensure all syllabus items are firmly covered in respect to the requirements.
