DYVL was formerly located at Brgy. In 1957, DYVL was launched as a regional version of DZRH. It's station frequency was 800 khz. In 1972, the station suspended it's actvities due to Martial Law (but later in 1973, DYVL was revived under the label Sunshine City, a localized version of [[DWIZ|DZPI]]). In 1978, the frequency were assigned to 819 khz GE75. In 1991, Sunshine City became Radyo Balita then in 1998, Aksyon Radyo was launched a day after [[DXGO-AM]] launched it's brand.
In 2013, Typhoon Yolanda destroyed the station's offices and transmitters in Brgy PHHC. Seaside Tacloban City and killed 2 of it's reporters. The station went off the air, but in early 2014 it revived this time it's station is now in Brgy.
