Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion from when the event was last held in 2019, and chose not defend her title to play in the WTA German Open instead, however she withdrew before the tournament started due to injury. It took place at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 13–20 June 2021.[1]
