Features

FaceTime

iOS 15 added a grid view and portrait mode to FaceTime. Spatial audio and vocal isolation were also added. Apple made joining a FaceTime call easier, with newly added links and calendar events, allowing Windows and Android users to join calls.[1]

SharePlay

SharePlay is a feature that allows users to listen to music, watch movies, share their screens, and more with other users while on a FaceTime call.[2][3] SharePlay works across iPhones running iOS 15, iPads running iPadOS 15, and Macs running macOS Monterey.[4]

Messages

Messages now displays multiple images in stacks, making them easier to navigate. More outfits are available for Memojis.

Shared with you

Messages also introduced a new feature called "Shared with you", which organizes links and other content shared via Messages in a dedicated section in their native apps for later viewing (for instance, a news article shared via messages is shown in the News app).[citation needed]

Focus

iOS 15 adds Focus Mode, which is designed to filter communications and notifications for a later time while enabled; Focus Mode can be enabled for various occasions, such as sleep and work. Users can select the apps and notifications that will be shown while Focus Mode is enabled. Focus Mode can also be enabled seamlessly with a user's routine, such as at specific times of the day, or upon arriving at a location. When Focus Mode is enabled, it can also show widgets and apps relating to the activity the user is doing, such as work.[citation needed]

Safari

Safari was completely redesigned, moving the search field to the bottom of the screen. It now has tab groups, allowing users to organize tabs and share entire groups of tabs. Browser extensions are available for the first time on both iPhones and iPads. A new start page was also added in iOS 15.[citation needed]

Security

iOS 15 features a menu that reports data collecting from third-party applications.[citation needed] On compatible devices with an Apple A12 Bionic system on a chip or newer, Siri now converts audio into words on the device itself instead of sending it to Apple servers.[5]

Other

Weather received an overhaul, with new animations and weather maps in full screen. Maps has a new icon and now allows users to view 3D models of landmarks and cities, and it uses augmented reality to help navigate using the camera. [6] Wallet added support for state issued ID in participating US states, home or apartment keys, hotel keys, and office keys. Notification Center has been rethought, with notifications having a new user interface and larger icons. A notification summary is also available to simplify one's routine. There is also a menu that reports data tracking from third-party applications.[7] Devices with an A12 chip or newer support Live Text in stock apps which can transcribe, copy and paste text from images.[8]

Supported devices

All the devices that supported iOS 13 and iOS 14 also support iOS 15. The following is a list of devices that support iOS 15:[9]
