Stéphane Gagba (born May 13, 1998), better known professionally as Stéphane Legar, is a Togolese-Israeli singer, dancer, and runway model. His stage name is Legar or Le Gar – short for Le Garcon, "the boy " in French. Many Israelis call him also by his mononym Stephane.

Early life

Stephane Gagba was born in Bat Yam, Israel, to Christian parents from Togo. His parents were foreign diplomats working in the Nigerian embassy in Israel. He has an older sister. As a child he spent most of his holidays visiting Togo.

At the age of 12, Legar moved with his family to Holon, Israel. He studied in the youth village Mikveh Israel, in its French sector. He decided to remain in the country and learn Hebrew. After obtaining Israeli citizenship,[citation needed] he served in the Israel Defense Forces in a unit responsible for explaining the recruitment process to high schoolers.[1]

In 2018, he became one of the most popular artists in Israel.[citation needed]
