In May 2021, dozens of children were kidnapped in Tegina, Niger from a muslim koranic school. [1][2][3][4][5] Estimates range from 100 to 200.[6][7]

Some of the victims had to be released because they were too young to walk.[8] Some of the parents have since died.[9] The bandit suspects have demanded a ransom for their release.[10]
