In May 2021, dozens of children were kidnapped in Tegina, Niger from a muslim koranic school. ^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]^[5] Estimates range from 100 to 200.^[6]^[7]

Some of the victims had to be released because they were too young to walk.^[8] Some of the parents have since died.^[9] The bandit suspects have demanded a ransom for their release.^[10]
