The Strawberry Alarm Clock is the breakfast time programme on Dublin Independent Local Radio station FM104. Since 15 January 2007 it has been presented by Andy Matthews.

History

The show began in 1995, and was originally presented by Timmy Ryan, before Colm Hayes began presenting the show in 1996, where it quickly became a success. The show was co-presented in the late 1990s for a long period by Justin McKenna and Joan Lee. In 2000 Jim Nugent joined the team and together with Hayes became known as the duo "Colm & Jim-Jim". The show airs from 6 to 10 am on weekdays.

The pair have enjoyed huge success at the annual P.P.I. Radio Awards, where they have won seven awards in the past 5 years, including Best Breakfast Show 2005 and Presenters of the Year 2005 and of course Best Comedy 2006.

A regular contributor to the show is Gavin. Gavin hails from Killiney in South Co. Dublin and is famous for his dislike of Northsiders and Boggers. Gavin appears on the show every Friday.

The show has produced two best Of albums in 2004 and 2005, both of which reached number one in the charts. The albums contained a mixture of the duo's comedy pieces and some acoustic cover songs. Guests included Stereophonics, Snow Patrol and Damien Rice. All proceeds from the CDs went to Temple Street Children's Hospital.

The new cd for 2006 " just having a laugh " is in shops from 10th Nov 06, and all the money from the album goes to the help a Dublin Child Appeal.

On 12 January 2007 it was announced that Colm Hayes and Jim Nugent would be moving to RTÉ 2FM, replacing Marty in the Morning. They are not being required to work out their notice at FM104, and the 12 January show was the last presented by Hayes and Nugent. FM104 will for the moment be retaining the Strawberry Alarm Clock name, and the show will now be presented by Andy Matthews. The 2FM show to be presented by Hayes and Nugent will be the similaly titled 2FM Alarm Clock.
