Romain Cannone (born 12 April 1997) is a French epée fencer and an Olympic gold medalist in individual epée at the 2020 Summer Olympics.[4][5] He was named Sportsperson of the Year for 2020 in Colmar, France.[6]

As of 2019, when Cannone qualified for the Olympics, he was a student at Skema Business School.[7]

On July 25, 2021, Cannone won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics (15-10) against the world champion Gergely Siklósi.[8][9] He defeated the Russian Sergey Bida in the quarter-finals (15-12) and the Ukrainian Ihor Reizlin (15-10) in the semi-finals.[10] Originally, Canonne had not been selected to compete, but on June 18, Cannone was selected to replace Daniel Jérent who had been caught for doping in November of 2020.[11]
