Hi, since you appear well versed in all South African ,I was wondering if you could help me find websites which information relating to acts of rebellion and violence in the reform process era as there simply isn't enough on wikipedia for saying the tremendous event that was the end of Apartheid. I began the Battle of Ventersdorp article and I believe you editted the image of, thank you, because I had uploaded it and although I have footage of the Battle of Ventersdorp it was the only still shot I could find and it was in black and white and of poor quality. I'm looking to clean- up the Battle of Ventersdorp article and make it more factual and less floury in keeping with wikiquette. |

If you could give me any links or if you want to do the work of editting yourself I'd be so grateful. |

Regarding the cableway, it can definitely be expanded, and when that occurs it should be broken out again as a separate article. The reason I merged it was because for the time-being it is short enough (and more importantly contextual enough) to wholly belong to Table Mountain. As for the hiking info, I'm not sure that Hiking on Table Mountain would pass muster. I'm purely arguing in terms of policy and guidelines here, not trying to be difficult, but I think somewhere on WP:NOT would be something along the lines of "Wikipedia is not a how-to guide" or something similar. Factual information (e.g. geographic description) about the trails themselves is obviously merited, particularly if there are good references. We may disagree on whether it belongs here or not, but it definitely also belongs on Wikitravel. If you have the inclination to do so please put it there. While I'm on about references, I haven't had much luck (or maybe I haven't looked hard enough) finding references for much of the stuff written in the article (e.g. History, Flora, Fauna sections etc.), if you know of any then please cite them as well, it would add to the quality of the article. I keep comparing this to Mount St. Helens, Tabel Mountain is worthy of a featured article but it needs to be expanded and referenced. Cheers. Zunaid 14:47, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Your vote please
Hi Zaian - Please vote on the proposed name change of the 'South African farmer murders' page. The straw poll is here. Please also pass this message on to others you think would be interested. Thank you! Cheers, Jason Lionchow - Talk 08:29, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
PW Botha defence and prime minister source
Hi. My source is a December 1979 U.S. Intelligence paper, which obviously does not say how long he kept both jobs: paragraph 12 of [1]. Preceding paragraphs would also probably interest you - the very brief nuclear weapon info in the PW Botha article isn't entirely accurate, but give a reasonable flavour. - I've updated the article. This BBC article [2] confirms Malan as defence minister from 1980-1991. Rwendland
GA
Jediwannabe nominated South_African_Scout_Association at WP:GAC. It's in dire need of more refs. Rlevse 20:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- This article was put on hold. The issues on the talk page look lengthy but aren't that bad. With a tad of work, it'll be GA. Rlevse 04:02, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Buffalo
I moved the paragraph because it made more sense having it right next to the picture of the buffalo. :-)
I don't oppose moving it back, but I think it makers sense next to the photo. Thanks for yopur note. --evrik (talk) 14:08, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Bronzewolf.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Bronzewolf.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 05:21, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Zaian: This guy tagged two of your images in the BW article. Use something like this for the rationales )this is BSA specific):
It is believed this image is eligible to be used under fair use for the following reasons:
- Permission to use all images of BSA badges with their motifs in Wikipedia was obtained from BSA on 13 Dec 2005. Badge, rank, insignia images are reproduced with permission of the Boy Scouts of America.
- This is copyrighted material of the BSA. All rights are reserved by BSA.
- BSA images is only being used in Wikipedia articles for informational and educational purposes.
- The image's inclusion here will not result in financial loss to the copyright holder.
- Hope it helps. Rlevse 08:07, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the image was uploaded before May 4, 2006 so I removed the no rationale tag. However, it would still be a good idea anyway to add a fair use rationale. --Oden 10:56, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Experimental Scout camp
Hi Zaian - I see you started the page on the Brownsea Island Scout camp. Would you have any objections if I changed the spelling to Commonwealth/British English, as per the Manual of Style ([[3]]), the part that says 'If there is a strong tie to a specific region/dialect, use that dialect ... Articles that focus on a topic specific to a particular English-speaking country should generally conform to the usage and spelling of that country.' This is very much a British topic, albeit of international significance. 81.151.231.225 14:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- No objections - I use Commonwealth spelling myself. Zaian 19:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Recent AIV report
Hey, there. :) Blocked the IP you reported, but thought I should also mention requests for oversight -- in cases where personal information of that sort is posted, we have a select few users who can completely remove edits from page history (even admins won't be able to see it). There are of course only a select few circumstances where this is done, but p-info is usually the main thing. I've already emailed them about this one, but if you see anything of that nature in the future, just letting you know this is available. Cheers, and thanks for helping to combat vandalism!
