Pumarosa
Pumarosa are an English electronic rock band formed in North London in 2014.[1] They have described their sound as "industrial spiritual".[1]
A Guardian reviewer of a live Pumarosa performance in 2016 called them the "missing link between Joy Division and Pendulum".[2]
History
The band was started by Isabel Munoz-Newsome (vocals, guitar) and Nicholas Owen (drums), and expanded to include Henry Brown (bass), Tomoya Suzuki (electronics) and Neville James (lead guitar).[3] Brown departed some time after the release of their first album, and bass for the second album was provided by Justin Chancellor of Tool.[4]
The concept of their first album was inspired by the vocalist's reading of Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici.[5] The second album was more personal, after Munoz-Newsome's surgery for cervical cancer and changes to band members' relationships.[6]
Pumarosa have toured the United Kingdom and other countries, including shows with Interpol and Depeche Mode.[4]
