Draft created after deletion review
@K.e.coffman and S Marshall: given this deletion review I'd appreciate extra eyes on the draft. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:45, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the invitation. I'm not sure that it's right to say Shaurya Doval is a politician? -- I think he's a businessman primarily, who's making early steps to break into politics. Let's say, charitably, that the sources seem to be about his political ambitions rather than his political achievements.—S Marshall T/C 16:11, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
Notability assessment
Reliable sources based on this assessment where possible
Source | Independent? | Reliable? | Significant coverage? | Count source toward GNG? |
---|---|---|---|---|
Center for American Progress | Text probably provided by Doval | One paragraph profile | ✘ No | |
The Economic Times | The Economic Times is part of the same group of publications as WP:TOI; could be a paid piece | Well researched piece; no reason to believe anything in the article isn't factual; quotes Doval but remains balanced | Extensive article about Doval | ✘ No |
The Wire | Substantial investigative journalism piece on the think-tank which Doval heads, 14 of the 34 paragraphs featuring analysis of how it interacts with Doval's business interests or how he justifies its funding and having ministers on the board | ✔ Yes | ||
Financial Express | The article is about Doval's think tank, but doesn't tell us anything about Doval - just a mention | ✘ No | ||
DOC Research Institute | Institute that Doval is involved with; text no doubt provided by Doval | Brief bio | ✘ No | |
Torch Investment | His own company's website | Very brief profile | ✘ No | |
Indian Express | WP:INDIANEXP | 11 paragraphs about his attendance at a BLP meeting and whether he would stand for election | ✔ Yes | |
Dainik Jagran | Per assessment at User:Winged Blades of Godric/Indian Media#Dainik Jagran | Just a mention | ✘ No | |
Jansatta | News story on Doval's poster campaign, tour of the region and reaction of his political party | ✔ Yes | ||
Indian Express | WP:INDIANEXP | Article about candidacy for the Pauri Garhwal seat in the general election - one paragraph of which states that Doval had been vying for the seat and referencing his campaign | ✘ No | |
Hindustan Times | User:Winged Blades of Godric/Indian Media#Hindustan Times casts a little doubt, but this piece seems perfectly reliable - the same is reported in the other newspapers | A ten-paragraph news article entirely about Doval, giving secondary analysis and reactions on his stepping into party politics | ✔ Yes | |
Amar Ujala | Not intellectually independent - based on an article in the Hindustan Times | User:Winged Blades of Godric/Indian Media#Amar Ujala | ✘ No | |
Jansatta | Just a mention | ✘ No | ||
The Hindu | Five short paragraphs that verify that Doval was allocated a security detail for a couple of months around the time of India's general election | ✘ No | ||
The Quint | Tertiary coverage of the exclusive story that was published in The Wire. Not intellectually independent | ✘ No | ||
The Caravan | ✔ Yes | |||
The Hindu | WP:THEHINDU | ✔ Yes | ||
Indian Express | WP:INDIANEXP | ✔ Yes | ||
Indian Express | WP:INDIANEXP | ✔ Yes | ||
Eisenhower Fellowships | but WP:PRIMARY source | useful to confirm he was awarded the fellowship, but little content | ✘ No | |
Chandigarh University | but WP:PRIMARY source | After Doval's speech, at 30 minutes in, the chancellor speaks of Doval in glowing terms but the description of his career and contribution to society is based on the same text used elsewhere, and may well have been provided, or at least reviewed by, Doval. | ✘ No | |
Chandigarh University | but WP:PRIMARY source | confirms that the award was made, but otherwise is Doval expressing his own opinions | ✘ No | |
This table may not be a final or consensus view; it may summarize developing consensus, or reflect assessments of a single editor. Created using {{source assess table}}. |
I have assessed that the subject passes WP:GNG due to significant and sustained coverage (2017-2020) in multiple reliable, independent publications. The draft was rewritten from the previous ones that were deleted and I don't think any content in this version is promotional. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 20:29, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Remove speedy
I removed the speedy, given that the article has come through the draft process and the other comments and reviews on the talk page. This subject does not qualify for WP:G4. Jeepday (talk) 11:58, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
It has also been at AFD at least two times. Including just last month and been deleted each time. THis article should be deleted and SALTED....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 12:05, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
Dear William Yes, it was deleted previously. But then, after discussions with other Wikipedians, I was asked to write a draft which would be closely assessed. If you could read the talk page and the 2nd Deletion Nomination, you can find out the details. Ht24 (talk) 12:09, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
Contested deletion
Please share the reason for putting a speedy deletion tag on this article. I tried to write this as per the instructions from various Wikipedia editors and was approved by Curb Safe Charmer. He helped me understand Wikipedia policies and the art of rules to follow for drafting a new article.
