September 20 Great Buddha of Kamakura 1498 – A tsunami caused by the Meiō earthquake washed away the building housing the statue of the Great Buddha (pictured) at Kōtoku-in in Kamakura, Japan; the statue has since stood in the open air. 1792 – The French Army achieved its first major victory of the War of the First Coalition at the Battle of Valmy. 1967 – L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, announced the story of Xenu in a taped lecture sent to all Scientologists. 1997 – Hurricane Erika, the strongest and longest-lasting hurricane of the 1997 Atlantic hurricane season, dissipated after causing flooding and power outages throughout Puerto Rico. Notable Events

If there has to be a list of events which occurred on 20 September, they should be "Notable Events". Many of the events listed are very obscure, or of purely local interest - such as "1962 – James Meredith, an African-American, is temporarily barred from entering the University of Mississippi".Royalcourtier (talk) 07:00, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

As I write, the page says Muhammed arrived in Medina on 20th September, of 622AD.

Yet most of The relevant articles say he there in late May.

Area 51

Shall it be added the plans to raid area 51? Independence Day of South Ossetia

It's a bit disingenuous to say "not fully recognized". The article South Ossetia says it is recognized by 5 states, which seem to be Russia and some clients. I'd be fine with leaving out "not fully recognized" altogether, which at least would not be as misleading.
