This is a very informative article, and I really appreciate the way that the time frame of this period was oriented with the mention of key historical figures from around this time. One edit, which might be beneficial, would be restructuring the first two sentences for clarity, between the approximate beginnings and ends from one period to the next. |

French Article
As I can read and speak French well, I've taken it upon myself to translate the French article into the French into English but instead replaced French expressions with more English ones (e.g. "cultural exchange" instead of lit. "cultural miscegnation" or "mixing").
Note, however, that the French article has a different scope than either this article or of Hellenistic civilization (perhaps a new article altogether should be created?) and I like penis. — ዮም (Yom) | contribs • Talk • E 00:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
1st installment (hope I didn't skip anything for intro)! — ዮም (Yom) | contribs • Talk • E 00:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I am changing Hellenistic period from a redirect to a translation of the French article, bit by bit (I've removed the section translation that was above). — ዮም | (Yom) | Talk • contribs • Ethiopia 05:15, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Title
O la la! I am sorry, the "Hellenistic Greece" is quite nonsense. Greece was ALLWAYS "Hellenistic". The Macedonian empire was "Hellenised". Please tell us which French page you translated. I am French and would like to see what kind of text this is. I am sorry quite a lot of corrections are probably needed on the pages about the Ancient history. Herodotus1A (talk) 10:20, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
This seems to be mainly about a period in Greece. Classical - Hellenistic - Roman etc.. Hellenistic is also a chronological term 62.1.173.6 (talk) 07:17, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Merge proposal?
Where is the discussion on the merge proposal? This page should not be merged with Hellenistic Civilization or Hellenistic Period in a wholesale way. Hellenistic Greece is phrase used to define a regional historical description analogous to Seleucid Syria or Ptolemaic Egypt. However, a close reading of these three pages could reveal sections which could benefit from some removal of duplicate material and appropriate interlinking. The discussion on a merge has been dead for over a year, I'm going to remove the tag on those grounds. Further, Hellenistic Period is as noted, very different from Hellenistic Greece or Hellenistic Civilization. If the term is to be avoided, we'd have to make articles for each part of the period in Greece termed Hellenistic like 'Kassandrid Greece', 'Antigonid Greece', 'Greece under Pyrrhus', etc... for the purposes of Wiki, I think that's a bit of overkill.
