The project will produce up to 312 MW, approximately 1,050,000 MWh of electricity annually. This is enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 228,000 average Victorian homes every year, representing approximately 10% of Victorian homes. |
|||
The project is divided into two sections, north and south. Fifty wind turbines are constructed in the northern section and 54 turbines are currently under construction in the southern section. All turbines stand 169m tall to the tip of the blade. |
|||
Construction began in July 2018 and the wind farm commenced partial operation in late 2020. |

Moorabool Wind Farm is a wind farm under construction between Ballarat and Geelong in Victoria, Australia. It is expected to commence operation early in 2020. The wind farm is in two parts. The northern part has 50 turbines under construction and the southern part has 54. It is being developed by Goldwind Australia.[1] When complete, Moorabool will be one of three wind farms in Moorabool Shire. The others are Yaloak South Wind Farm and Lal Lal Wind Farm.[2]
By 30 August 2019, all 54 foundations were completed in the southern section,[3] and all the bases and 11 turbines were erected but not yet commissioned in the northern section.[4] The components for the southern section were to be delivered from the Port of Geelong in a total of 594 oversized loads at a rate of approximately 33 per week from September 2019 to February 2020.[5]
