On 8 October 2021, it was proposed that this article be moved to Harry Wilson (Welsh footballer). The result of the discussion was no consensus. |
Reason for creation
I created this article as the player achieves WP:GNG (significant coverage), he has been called up to the full Wales squad and could become their youngest ever international player, as a result I considered that he is notable. TheBigJagielka (talk) 21:38, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Both YOB and nationality are valid disambiguators per WP:NCSP. The argument for YOB is WP:CONSISTENCY, the argument for nationality seems to be that it is a more natural disambiguation. Given equally valid arguments and about equal number !votes of votes, there is no consensus at this time. (non-admin closure) VR talk 01:19, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
Harry Wilson (footballer, born 1997) → Harry Wilson (Welsh footballer) – Out of the other Harry Wilsons who are footballers, only this one is Welsh and people are likely to identify his nationality better than the year of birth. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:28, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 13:46, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose - renaming this to nationality whilst all the other are YOB would be confusing & not assist with navigation. GiantSnowman 13:48, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- There is a Harry Wilson (Scottish footballer) page however, unlike all others, the YOB on that page is unknown. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:53, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NCSP. Most conclusive and easiest to identify disambiguation given there is one Irish, one Welsh, one Scottish and two English footballers with the name Harry Wilson would be to use nationality as the primary disambiguation. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 10:44, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Support I would probably have opposed this 5 years ago as his nationality wasn't common knowledge but he's established in the national side now so I have no problems with this one. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 16:55, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment whether this is moved or not, there should be WP:CONSISTENCY. Either use the nationality or the year of birth. cookie monster 755 17:28, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. We disambiguate footballers by year of birth. No point making an exception to this standard for one individual. Especially since he plays his club football in England. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:41, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- If anyone recalls the first RM discussion on Talk:Jota (Spanish footballer), Struway2 pointed out that nationality would be "more conclusive disambiguator" - also from the relevant naming convension, the first point, point a), suggests that is the first way to decide the outcome. I also agree with REDMAN 2019 re "established in the national side" as well. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:12, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- I actually find that really annoying what was done there. I have to search "Jota Peleteiro" to find him. Peleteiro is the most important part of his name and it's not even in the title. Govvy (talk) 11:23, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- It appears in that case "Jota" is the common name in the English media though the Spanish media calls him "Jota Peleteiro". Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose No need to go messing with the norm naming convention. Govvy (talk) 11:17, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Unreal7 (talk) 13:42, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: it looks like from what I've seen here for the first time in a few days that we have a balanced view of the title staying as it is or moving it to nationality DAB. The relevant naming convension could be the factor if we move the article this year or another. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:23, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
