The Diocese of Minas (Template:Lang-la) is a former Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Uruguay. When the final bishop of the diocese, Jaime Rafael Fuentes, retired in 2020, the Diocese of Minas was united with the Diocese of Maldonado-Punta del Este to form the Diocese of Maldonado-Punta del Este-Minas.

History

The diocese was erected in 1960, and was a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Montevideo. This diocese coved the department of Lavalleja and northern portions of the departments of Rocha and Maldonado. Its cathedra was in the Cathedral of Minas.[1][2]

The final bishop was Jaime Rafael Fuentes, who was appointed in 2010.
