Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgian: ხვიჩა კვარაცხელია, romanized: khvicha k'varatskhelia; born 12 February 2001) is a Georgian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan and the Georgia national team.

Club career

Early career

Kvaratskhelia began his career at Dinamo Tbilisi in 2017 after coming through the youth ranks before joining Rustavi one year later.

Lokomotiv Moscow

On 15 February 2019, Kvaratskhelia joined Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow on loan.[1] He made his Russian Premier League debut on 10 March 2019 in a game against Anzhi Makhachkala as an 86th-minute substitute for Jefferson Farfán.[2]

On 1 July 2019, Lokomotiv announced that Kvaratskhelia had left the club after his loan expired.[3] Following that, Lokomotiv Moscow manager Yuri Semin said he was very disappointed after failing to agree on a permanent transfer with Kvaratskhelia as Semin considered him extremely talented.[4]

Rubin Kazan

On 6 July 2019, Kvaratskhelia signed a five-year deal with Rubin Kazan.[5] In his first game on 15 July 2019, which happened to be over his previous club Lokomotiv, he came on as a substitute in the second half and scored an equaliser, with the final score being 1–1. Kvaratskhelia then netted his second for Rubin on 30 November 2019, another late equaliser in added time to Akhmat Grozny.

International career

Kvaratskhelia made his debut for Georgia national team on 7 June 2019 in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Gibraltar, as a starter.[6]

On 14 October 2020, he scored his first goal in a 1–1 UEFA Nations League draw with North Macedonia.

On 28 March 2021, he scored against Spain. On 31 March 2021 he scored against Greece.

On 11 November 2021, Kvaratskhelia scored 2 goals in the georgian victory against Sweden.

Personal life

Khvicha is the son of Azerbaijan national football team former player Badri Kvaratskhelia.[7]
