Welcome Message
Hello, Pallaviagarwal90, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.
- Please sign your name on talk pages, by using four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username and the date, and helps to identify who put a certain post on a talk page. Please do not sign any edit that is not on a talk page.
- Check out some of these pages:
- If you have a question that is not one of the frequently asked questions below, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click the button below. Happy editing and again, welcome! AshLin (talk) 19:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
For inline references:
- Do a search on Ask.com, Google, or your preferred search engine for the subject of the article that you want to put a reference in.
- Click 'Edit this page' or 'Edit' in the Wikipedia article, and insert a claim into that article stating a fact about the subject. Don't click the save button just yet.
- In the search you did in step 1, find a website that supports the claim you made in step 2. Highlight the address in the address bar (where it says http://www.some-website.com/some-page.htm).
- Go to the reference generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out the as many fields as you can. Then click 'Get reference wiki text'.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text.
- In the article, after the claim you made in step 2, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied in step 5.
- If the article does not have a References, Footnotes, Notes, or Bibliography section, then add this below the See Also section and above the External Links section:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
For references put at the end of an article:
- Do a search on Ask.com, Google, or your preferred search engine for the subject of the article that you want to put a reference in.
- In the search, find a website that supports the claims made in the article.
- Go to the Wikipedia article. If the article does not have a References, Footnotes, Notes, or Bibliography section, then add this below the See Also section and above the External Links section:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
Then, add this after the {{Reflist}}
, in a new line:
{{Refbegin}}
*Press paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) after this asterisk, then remove the <ref></ref> tags
{{Refend}}
You really shone at the Campus Ambassador Training this last weekend. The next step is to be a capable and experienced editor to give you the confidence to face your colleagues. AshLin (talk) 19:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I tried to insert the file named Image:Wikimood Pos1.png that I found on a certain page on my user page. I am not able to insert the file anywhere in between my user page. I am forced to insert the file at the end of the user page. If I have correctly used it, then this is how I tried to insert it:
Now, I am having problem even while writing this text. I had to write the syntax at the end of your user page. Please scroll to the end to view the syntax.
You can see for yourself what happens when you try to insert it in between the page.(I find it difficult to explain it).
Am I using the syntax correctly? If no please help me out. If yes again please help me out to insert it in between my user page. You may experiment on my user page. I intend to insert this file besides the huge smiling smiley.

Jobin RV 14:50, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Hey Jobin, don't use the gallery tag. Insert the picture just like the smiley you have put. For even more options with that, check the help page for images. Gallery tag is used to create galleries which are pages having mostly images and very less content. Your syntax is correct when it comes to creating a gallery. I have contacted many CAs to get you a better answer but it all narrows down to the content on the Gallery pages. Lastly, to write code without wanting it to be interpreted like the other text, place it in between "nowiki" tags. For example,
<nowiki><gallery>
Image:Wikimood Pos1.png
<gallery></nowiki>

Hi Kavita, There must've been a reason why you are not able to access your account. Is is that you are blocked and cannot edit anything except your own talk page? Or did you forget your password? We cannot change your user id now at this stage of the program. Do reply and elaborate. You can meet me in college also and we can get this sorted out. Please reply or discuss as soon as possible.
Jobin RV 06:50, 28 August 2011 (UTC) Jobin RV
Hi Jobin!! Looking forward to a great interaction :) You can search for images on google but they should not be copyrighted otherwise they'll be removed. If you take an image and edit it in photoshop or so then you can use it on Wikipedia. Thus, to find images, you should look for websites which do not have a copyright symbol and make necessary edits to make it your own work. Hope this answers your question. :) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 13:12, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ashwini, your friend had the same doubt. When it redirects you to the printf page, just below the heading it says "redirected from vsprintf" click on it and then edit. Also go through your friend's post on this page. Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 06:59, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi Pallavi
I am in your group for wiki assignment.
My question is: can I directly copy paste info from any website which have copy rights to my sandbox ? Asmita yendralwar (talk | contribs) 07:45, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Asmita! Firstly, always create a new section when posting on someone's talk page. Next, about your query- well, you can copy paste on your sandbox as that is your own space and others won't be monitoring it but, when it comes to an article, then you can't copy paste from anywhere. I'm Deepika in s.y.comp and I had a question.I have created vsprintf stub in my sandbox. But problem is that in printf page vsprintf already exists.So I'm not able to provide link to vsprintf.So plz can you help me to get of this? Deepika.sirsath (talk) 05:59, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Deepika, sorry for replying so late. I went to your sandbox but found nothing.Maybe you deleted it. I assume you are facing problems because of the redirection from vsprintf to printf. Categorize the article just like printf. Leave a message on the discussion page of the article telling why it is important and other users will stop redirecting it then. Hope this helps. Do get back to me if you still face problems. Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 06:55, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Syntax used
The syntax I used to inert the file is as follows:
<gallery>

Please see the "edit" tab to view the syntax.

HELLO:ABOUT WIKI PROJECT
Hey,this is Pallavi Sonawane here. My Wiki project is on C library function-Sqrt().But there is already a page on "Square root" which relates to Mathematical Square root And not To the C Function. In existing Square root page, they have given that Sqrt is an abbrevation of Square root, so Myself is getting trouble in creating a new wiki page on Sqrt function (C - Library function). Please get me out of this. ~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pallavi.sonawane (talk • contribs) 11:40, 11 September 2011 (UTC) 115.113.152.3 (talk) 05:15, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Pallavi, remove the redirection from sqrt() page and categorize the page. If another user still deletes it, leave a message on the discussion page explaining why your article is different from the squareroot page. Adding a category should solve your problem :) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 06:48, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Blocked?!
Hey I learnt from Abhijeet Sir that a lot of users from our College(including me!!!) that we have copied a lot of content from other pages onto Wikipedia.... I had copied about two paragraphs(near about 200 words..) for my article, some(about 4-5) photographs for our College and about 25 templates for my User page!!!(Huge bounty!!!). I realize (quite late) that this is a huge crime!!! I also realize that I have been blocked from editing Wikipedia(as soon as I login, the edit tab or option disappears!!!) Am I blocked forever? Is this curable or reversible? Please respond...!!!(read unblock)!!! Jobin (talk) 13:28, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Jobin, Yes, it is true that copying stuff onto Wikipedia is a crime but that goes for your text and the photographs and not the templates. Many students have been blocked in this way. The solution is to write your campus ambassador a mail about it. All CAs at CoEP have been reassigned and now for DSA we have Mihir Khatwani and Arnav Sonara. They will unblock people from your class. Do not repeat this mistake. Plagiarism is not allowed on Wikipedia. That is the main reason teachers opted for assignments on Wikipedia because students won't be able to copy!! P.S: It is spelled Abhijit and not Abhijeet (He's one of the best profs in CoEP so I just HAD to correct you Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 15:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks!!!
Thanks a lot, for your support in helping me get unblocked. Feel great to be back to freedom on Wikipedia!!! Very happy to be unblocked. Thanks a lot!!! Jobin (talk) 21:08, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
A hello from another ambassador
Hello Pallavi, glad to see an active campus ambassador from the India program. I am Swaroop Rao (though my username is MikeLynch), and I've been involved with the similar program in the United States as an Online Ambassador. Looks like you're doing well in your assignment, I've come to commend you on your work. Hopefully I'll find some time and help out the students here. Glad to see we've moved past the copyright problems. Cheers! Lynch7 18:06, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Hello
Hi, I am Yash Tibrewal and I am in your group for wikiproject. My topic is Quadratic probing. I need some help with spacing out the data. The problem mainly comes when I try to include some math based data. Also I want to make some kind of image or structure like thing for this topic showing the working. Can you tell me how it is to be done?? And please help me wikify my topicYashykt (talk) 05:22, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Yash, I think you are facing this problem because all math based data contains special characters. The symbols are sometimes incorrectly interpreted as code. I would advise you to include such content between the <nowiki></nowiki> tag. Also, Wikifying refers to the structure of the page: it should have a lead section, contents, infobox, sections and loads of references. Being a programmer, you should be able to handle that but if you get stuck, I'm always there to help :) I think you should create an image related to this topic where you show an array and a pointer to one of its elements and then a new image which shows a pointer to another element in the same array which is a result of the quadratic equation. Hope you've got my point :) Please get back to me if you have any problems :) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 06:21, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
What to do ?
Our topic page has been deleted by someone saying that Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.docstoc.com/docs/43291906/Introduction-to-Java-threads). But I read from a book & understood then I have written on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yogesh2011 (talk • contribs) 10:35, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Yogesh, please understand this that when you are editing an article, even if you have understood the entire concept, you cannot use the exact words. Rephrase it!! Even if you are not copying, the exact words are a problem. read this to learn more. P.S: You should sign when you leave a msg on anyone's talk page by using four tildes. :) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 07:05, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello Pallavi, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Danger and I've been assigned as an Online Ambassador for Computational Methods in Engineering. I've been working on Wikipedia for so long that it frightens me, so if you'd like to divert any net-based questioning to me, that'd be great. (And of course, in the unlikely event that someone has a question you don't know how to answer, I'd love to help.) But you're the boots on the ground, so let me know how I can help you. :) Enthusiastically yours, Danger (talk) 21:47, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Hello, thank you so much for your help. I will surely be needing it! Looking forward to troubling you a lot! :D ;) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 10:20, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

problem about subject page
hi i am vishal dhavale. i created mktime page also wrote on it bt now i cant find it.when i search for it it shows just time.h page plz help me what to do?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishal G.Dhavale. (talk • contribs) 19:43, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Vishal, your page has been redirected to time.h. When you type in mktime in the search box, it takes you to time.h and a small note saying "redirected from mktime" is there. You can just click on it and it'l take you to the original page. Click on edit, remove the redirection and add content to the page. Add enough content but more importantly, add references!! Please get back to me if you have any problems. Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 10:27, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
About wiki course
hey , I am Pallavi Sonawane. I have created my wiki-topic in my sandbox. Can you please watch it out ? I am waiting for suggestion. Thank you.pallavi 14:26, 1 October 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pallavi.sonawane (talk • contribs)
Hi Pallavi, I saw your article in your sandbox. You have just copy pasted content from other websites. This is a copyright violation. If you put this content live, it'll get deleted and you may get blocked. So please rewrite and rephrase the content. Refer to books also along with websites. Write everything in your own words and make sure you understand everything before you put it. Also, do not forget to ad references. Tell me when you finish modifying the article in your sandbox and we'll then decide whether it can go live. P.S: you always forget to sign your comments on my talk page. To do that, you just need to put four tildes. ;) Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 10:40, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello
Hi Pallvi, I am Swapnali Waghmare and I am in your group for wikiproject. Me and my partner have two library functions in our topic i.e. btowc and strscpn. We have created our own pages i.e. swapnali1902/btowc and Asmita yendralwar/strscpn. Could you please watch it out and suggest something to us? How do I draw a circuit in wikipedia?
- You cannot 'draw' a circuit in Wikipedia using Wikipedia-code. If there isn't one in Commons or on Wikipedia, then you'll need to create an image off-wiki/on your computer, using Paint or Inkscape or whatever, and then upload the image (onto Wikipedia or onto Commons) so you can place the image into your article. Have you done a search to see if a suitable image already exists somewhere on-wiki? For instance, there's this of a circuit as well as other circuit-images at Electrical network. Copyright problems
So far as I can tell, nearly of the contributions made so far by students in Computational Methods in Engineering have been obvious copyright violations. Two students (Ankit and Mohan) have added literally the same copyrighted passage after I explained that this is unacceptable. The non-copyrighted contributions have required a great deal of cleanup, not for wiki-markup, but for basic English grammar and spelling. I am finding this frustrating and I'm unsure what to do. Leaving notes seems ineffectual if the students are not reading them. --Danger (talk) 20:31, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
I will arrange for a session on copyright violations. Will speak with the professor today itself.Pallaviagarwal90 (talk) 05:27, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you. I very much appreciate it. Danger (talk) 05:34, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Very urgent
Hi,Pallavi. I am Umema from S.Y.Mechanical,COEP. I along with my friend Samiksha,are working on Piston,Crankshaft design. Very recently,our page has been deleted stating the reason as a fork of piston and crankshaft. We tried discussing the problem,but it was of no use. Today,Samiksha's sandbox was deleted and my sandbox was moved. Usually,the sandbox cannot be deleted,so ours has been deleted or moved?? Please reply asap..!! Umemabohari (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:13, 14 October 2011 (UTC).
- Hey, Problem solved, Umema, i have placed a link to your sandbox on your userpage for convenience. What happened with Samiksha was that she directly created an article on mainspace called Samikshapodutwaro/sandbox, which is innappropriate, hence nominated for deletion. i really hope you have the info saved somewhere else?? i've asked the user who nominated the deletion to try and userfy Samiksha's sandbox if not deleted yet.Umema, I've gone through your article, I find the content satisfactory, but you really need to work on the Wikifying and formatting. please add refs and Wikilinks wherever possible.
Cheers,--The Mangol (talk) 12:14, 15 October 2011 (UTC)- Okay, I found Samiksha's sandbox too, I've made it a link on her userpage Samiksha Podutwar.
Happy Editing :). --The Mangol (talk) 13:16, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Please go through my page Constructor (object-oriented programming). Also Abhijit Sir had asked me to edit the types of constructors on their respective pages - Default constructor and Copy constructor. I have also edited Constructor overloading. Please go through these pages and suggest changes if any. Thanks. Apoorvanayak (talk) 05:52, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
