Complete sentences

In case you've never seen what a quality cast and character list is supposed to look like, I'll point you to List of Millennium characters for your edification. Edits like this where you wedge "Former:Manvi Singh" into a parenthetical don't actually communicate any real information to readers unfamiliar with the series. The point of an encyclopedia article is not to only be a resource for fans of the show, but for members of our global audience who might be interested in researching the series. That is why we should be using complete sentences to express ideas if they are crucial to our understanding of the series. Even the improvement "Maya Rudra Roy, formerly named Manvi Singh" doesn't tell the reader why this character has multiple names, so there are still major gaps in the information being provided.

An example of what should be there is something like: "Jane Doe is introduced as a businesswoman from Patna. It is later revealed that she was living under an assumed identity, and her real name is actually Gloria Bloggs. After serving 2 years in prison for identity theft, she later marries Bhuvan Smythe.

This content is far more useful academically than the typical focus on family trees and the terse, poorly thought-out content that usually appears in Indian TV articles. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:24, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So, do you want Cast and characters of Beyhadh S02 to be like List of Millennium Characters.. if so I would like to take the opportunity after your permission. So allow me to do so and if you find anything missing you could insert it. Abhishek Kasaudhan 123 (talk) 07:52, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the above talk page comment you left on my talk page to yours, so that this conversation can remain in one place. List of Millennium characters is a Featured List Article, which means that it has been scrutinised by other editors and has been found to be consistent with community standards. It represents the highest level of quality. There is an entire Manual of Style for television articles that tells editors what the community expects articles to look like. WP:TVCAST is the set of guidelines for cast sections. Short story: Character descriptions should tell a reader about the character. Is the character a schemer? What do they do for a living, if it is relevant. What is their personality like? Are they addicted to drugs? Does this impact their storylines? And then beyond those descriptions, having real-world information about how an actor was cast, who (if anybody) the character was based on, etc. If none of that information can be found or written about, then at the very least we should be writing complete sentences that explain ideas clearly. See List of SpongeBob SquarePants characters which might be an example of a middleground between the current version and the Millennium list. I don't think there should be a unique article for the cast/characters just yet but if you want to improve the current cast sections with WP:TVCAST as your guide, you certainly don't need my permission. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:45, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Abhishek, you did a really great job with the character descriptions at Beyhadh 2. It still needs some grammar work and copyediting, but you should be proud to have created one of the first Indian soap opera articles with clear character descriptions. I hope that you've started a trend. Good work. If you are feeling even more ambitious, trying to find information about how the roles were developed or how the actors were cast would be useful in that section as well, again per WP:TVCAST, which wants us to also think about real-world content, not just "in-universe" details. But no pressure. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:18, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for appreciations..but someone keeps removing my edits anonymously.... Abhishek Kasaudhan 123 (talk) 13:58, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver)

A tag has been placed on Rajat Verma, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Speedy deletion nomination of Rajat Verma

Hello Abhishek Kasaudhan 123,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Rajat Verma for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

A tag has been placed on Rajat Verma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

  • Comment: Abhishek, this message above is supposed to be a clue to you that you messed up by adding a problematic link to a disambiguation page, rather than to the page you intended. In an ideal world, you'd acknowledge the mistakes and take efforts to fix them. We don't want to point to disambiguation pages, because it forces readers to have to decide which link is correct, when that is something you should have done. I have fixed these for you, but won't do that again. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:16, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Slashes

Hi there, re: this, would you please refrain from using slashes in article prose? These slashes appear in hundreds of Indian TV articles, but the problem with them, is that they are ambiguous. There is no universal way to interpret content separated by slashes. Sometimes it indicates that one actor played multiple roles, sometimes it indicates that an actor played a single character who used multiple names, sometimes it indicates various nicknames people called the character. As an example, once I came across this:

Giaa Manek/Rubina Dilaik as Jeannie/Jenu/Chutki/Gita/Mitram/ Rajjo Ji/Jwala/Roopa/Mrs.Khanna (2012−2013)/(2013−2014)

Did the actress Gia Manek change her name to Rubina Dilaik? Are these two actors who worked at the same time? Did they work intermittently depending on who was available? Did one replace the other? Are all those names after the "as" unique characters? The same character but with different nicknames? Are they nonuplets? What's with the parentheticals separated by slashes? Are they trying to say that Manek had this/these roles from 2012-2013, but then Dilaik took over from 2013-2014? Or does it mean that both actors worked until some point in 2013, then were pulled from the show and then came back later in 2013?

See the problem? The more frequently these are added, the more people think that they are helpful, and the problem spreads. Thanks for your consideration, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:03, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I totally agree with your points Sir but since the show was new and I didn't have much knowledge about the show; then I had to go with Slashes. However, as soon as, I manage to acquire some understanding of show, I would edit it accordingly. Thanks for concern.

And a problem, I am interested to share is whenever I add cleanup templates to an article with improper/long plot or maybe distributed Cast section, a bunch of IP users spam the article and remove the templates, I have been tired to giving them warnings through their Talk pages but they seems to be resistant to admonishments or maybe being new at Wikipedia makes them unaware of the Talk page feature; I am not sure though. So, How am I supposed to tackle such users. Need suggestions 😄 Thanks Abhishek Kasaudhan 123 (talk) 19:19, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You would have to point me in the direction of where you're seeing these problematic issues, then I could better help you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:39, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there; while surfing through Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2's edit history, I found some of the edits which were strange; specific to these 1, 2, 3. Its been a high time to protect the page from editing by IP Users. In a pair of days, there were so many edits leading towards vandalism in the article; or if there is some other methods to tackle the same. Thanks Abhishek Kasaudhan 123 (talk) 15:51, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Versions in other languages

Re: this, this is part of a problem that started when people added "Linguistic versions" sections to Indian TV articles, which makes no sense to me in English. This was going on in a number of articles. Whenever I would change it back to something like Adaptations, (like I did here), it would get changed back to Linguistic versions. I think a lot of random editors just blindly copy stuff from one article to another without thinking. Since I thought that maybe someone was objecting to the description of "adaptations", I then went through about 25 articles and changed "Linguistic versions" to "Versions in other languages". So in this edit, Noobie anonymous was probably following my lead, having seen these changes in other articles.

For what it's worth, Adaptations is probably a better heading. But also note that there's nothing at MOS:TV that mentions what such a section should be called. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:08, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there; but then what I have to follow, "Versions in other languages" or "Adaptations"?Abhishek this side( Say hi!) 05:10, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
