@Kashmiri, Thank you for the welcome and the tip, and yes, they were screams lol. i appreciate the gentle nudge, I went and apologized (and also saw your comment to him--thank you genuinely for what you said). I can see how people's tempers can flare in this process but I have definitely been surprised to see how quick people are to kind of try to prove they know better than others/how high the stakes seem to be for some? anyway, thanks again |

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Sasha Gordon
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Sasha Gordon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.artnews.com/art-in-america/features/sasha-gordon-perturbing-paintings-1234595010/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi please undo this i am mid edit now all my work seems to be gone?????? I just copied and pasted the stuff in that i wanted to draw on for research and i was almost halfway done and now i can't find it and i'm freaking out because i'm doing this for a class and i need to turn it in asap (due at midnight my time which is 10 min ago). I AM NOT INTENDING ON USING THE STUFF PASTED IN. I DID NOT INTEND TO SUBMIT IT AS IS. PLEASE UNDO WHAT YOU DID SO I CAN RETURN TO WORKING ON IT.
SERIOUSLY I AM FREAKING OUT I DID NOT MEAN TO SUBMIT IT OBVIOUSLY WOULD NOT PLAGIARIZE SOMEONE'S ARTICLE IM NOT AN IDIOT I LITERALLY WAS JUST TRYING TO SAVE MY EDITS SO I COULD KEEP WORKING NOW ALL OF MY WORK IS GONE
- It isn't gone. It's still there. Copy it, paste it to your hard drive, edit it, then restart your draft. But hurry! -- Hoary (talk) 05:37, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
No, sadly, it appears to be. I noticed I had a new talk message so I went to save my work and clicked on the talk page to read the message. I assume something glitched because when I returned to the page it had switched to source editing and was back to my original pasted in stuff.
I am genuinely so exhausted and my brain feels like mush and it's all gone and I am very (very) sad Alexisgordon (talk) 05:43, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- It was deleted on 1 July 2020. (Yes, 2020, not 2021.) It hasn't been deleted since. Take a look again -- and quickly. -- Hoary (talk) 06:15, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, hang on: it "was back to my original pasted in stuff". Yes, that's what there is. If you rewrote it, then you somehow omitted to save ("publish") the result. Really. Nobody has made any deletion. (Or I should say: Nobody had made any, the last time I looked.) -- Hoary (talk) 06:17, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
No I know I can see that it's there. Just sadly as you say whatever I attempted to save was not saved. Thank you for trying to help I really appreciate it just had to whine + mourn for a second before starting overAlexisgordon (talk) 06:23, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- What has happened to you has also happened to me. Actually these days if I'm planning to do something big I generally use geany to create it as a text file on my hard drive. This actually has more risks than doing it in the conventional way (geany lacks an autosave, let alone an edit history), but I'm very much aware of this and the awareness (i.e. dread of screwing up) keeps me alert. Usually. -- Hoary (talk) 07:11, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Alexisgordon, Now that you have found your text, maybe you should remove your comments (frankly, screams) at User talk:Idoghor Melody? Also, new comments should always be added at the bottom of the page (the only exception are Welcome messages, one of which I just placed on top of your Talk page). See Talk page guidelines for details. Cheers, — kashmīrī TALK 08:16, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I've deleted that page without reading this – just a palimpsest of copyvios, much worse than Earwig seemed to suggest. Alexisgordon, if you activate your email I will mail you your text, on the strict condition that you do not post any part of it in Wikipedia. You could then consult it and write entirely new text in your own words for your assignment based on facts reported in the references. Very brief quotations of non-free text are OK as long as they are clearly marked as quotations (i.e., in quotation marks) and attributed to the source. Your course instructor should have explained our copyright policy to you before anything else. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:42, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
