== Gaetano Salvemini ==

You made an incorrect edit on the Wikipedia page of Gaetano Salvemini as well as deleted a source that showed proof of the correct date. The Minister of the Underworld, or Il ministro della malavita was published in 1910 but re-edited and reissued again in 1919. The version which is most commonly referenced is the 1919 version of the essays and is the most popular. It was originally published in 1910 however, it makes more sense to use the final 1919 version as the one on his Wikipedia page as it is his final, revised draft. As a close friend of Gaetano’s family, it is also their wish and recommendation to insert the 1919 version or clarify the situation on the page. Giuseppe Chirico

Please do not blank pages, as you did to Giuseppe Chirico, whatever the reason. Somebody will come to Wikipedia, find a blank page and wonder what on earth is going on. If an article is a duplicate of another, then redirect it. If you feel that an article doesn't belong on Wikipedia, then look at the deletion policy. If it indeed meets the criteria for deletion in your judgement, then nominate it as appropriate. Thank you. — Smjg (talk) 23:28, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Gaetano Salvemini.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi. You were right to revert my replacement of "died" with "passed away." It was a different use of "died" than the one I've been looking for (per WP:EUPHEMISM), and I was a bit quick with the trigger. However, "mythical" in a non-literal sense is definitely non-NPOV. I looked at your reference (page 23 of that book, reference 73 in the article), and I can't find a good quote to use in its place. I understand the part of history moderating his role in this culture and these events, but can I convince you to consider either a quote to indicate "mythical proportions" or some other wording that keeps it NPOV? Mitchell k dwyer (talk) 03:01, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. I provided a reference for the "mythical proportions". Also, if you read the full article, you will see that Vizzini's life story is a combination of myth and facts, so I feel that describing it that way is NPOV. - DonCalo (talk) 11:53, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Giuseppe Saredo.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:17, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Filippo Guttadauro.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Filippo Guttadauro.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ramaksoud2000 (Talk to me) 06:30, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Italian election, 1861

Hi DonCalo, I'm writing to you because I noticed that you edited lot of pages about Italian politic in the 19th century, and I have a question for you. In the Italian general election, 1861, should we keep Mazzini as the de facto leader of the Extreme left-wing? According to you, he was the leader of the Action Party (Italy, 1848) or The Extreme? And which of the two should we use in the article? Thanks -- Nick.mon (talk) 15:46, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, but unfortunately I don't know the answer. Seems to me that both The Extreme and the Action Party are wrong. The Extreme did not really exist at the time and the Action Party did not participate as such in the elections. Needs some research ... - DonCalo (talk) 16:08, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your answer, I sincerly don't know which party partecipated to the election. Maybe some other users will know it, but the users who edit articles concerning the Italian politics of the 19th century are very few... -- Nick.mon (talk) 16:52, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Giosue Gallucci GA nomination

Hello, DonCalo. I've been looking for an article to do my first GA review on. Since I already have some knowledge about the early history of organized crime in the U.S., I thought the Gallucci article might be a good place to start. However, I've noticed that you haven't edited in a month or so and I didn't want to start a review without you available. If you'd like me to review the article, please leave me a message on my Talk page. If you'd like you can see my first (and only) GA article, Bixby letter and Nicola Schiro, an article I've edited with the closest resemblance to the Gallucci article. File source problem with File:Bontade murder.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Bontade murder.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. The file File:Giovanni Brusca arrest.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Decorative use of a a non-free image in Giovanni Brusca#Arrest. The reader does not need to see Brusca being held by police to understand that he was arrested per WP:NFCC#1 and a non-free image is being used in the main infobox for identification purposes so this is not need for that reason per WP:NFCC#3a; moreover, this particular image itself is not the subject of any sourced critical commentary within the relevant section, so the context required by WP:NFCC#8 is also lacking. The event of the arrest may be have been historic or noteworthy, but as explained in WP:ITSHISTORIC that does not automatically make this a historic photo, unless reliable sources are cited which specifically discuss the photo as such.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:38, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Dutch Revolt

Please stop erasing my edits on this page outlining the historical and religious background of the Dutch Revolt. You are evidently completely ignorant of the Dutch reformation and the theological bases of the Dutch Revolt. You are clearly a Marxist in your views of history, and have no understanding at all of the Dutch Revolt. You are also demonstrating an anti-Christian bias in your editing. Please stop involving yourself in historical articles that you have no professional or scholarly, or even common historical knowledge, and go back to your work in the mafia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Puritan27 (talkcontribs) 19:44, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Dutch Revolt

Please forgive me for seeming uncivil. But everyone of you that are involved in disputing my additions to the wikipedia article are clearly ignorant of the Dutch Revolt, and are just interested in promoting your own atheistic revisionist view of history. I don't even think any of you teach the subject at the college level. I suggest you allow those who actually know the subject and teach it at both undergraduate and Master's level courses be the one's to decide the contents of this article. It would also be helpful if any of you were actually Protestant and Reformed as well; because of course, the Dutch Revolt was a part of the Protestant Reformation. To be sure, leaving my additions out are just as absurd and anti-Christian as writing an article on the German Reformation and blotting out all references to Martin Luther, Philip Melanchthon, and the Augsburg Confession. So I suggest once again, please keep to editing subjects that you are at least proficient in. You are all grossly ignorant of basic facts of the historical and religious basis of the Dutch Revolt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Puritan27 (talkcontribs) 21:51, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Giuseppe Di Matteo kidnap.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Giuseppe Di Matteo kidnap.jpg.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:00, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Hey! So, I know I'm 5 years late, but believe it or not I only just saw the extensive welcome message you gave me back when I started doing my first edits on Wikipedia. Belated or not I just wanted to thank you for the welcome message and the thought you put into it, and looking back, I wish I had looked at it then because your advice was as useful then as it is now: the quality of my earlier edits was definitely abysmal, though I believe to have improved in recent years although university commitments do not allow me to create as many pages as I would like to. I wish you a great weekend and thanks again for your contributions! Dynamo128 (talk) 15:03, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Giancarlo Siani.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Giancarlo Siani.jpg.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File permission problem with File:Antonino Giuffre.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Antonino Giuffre.jpg, which you've attributed to https://web.archive.org/web/20060623034714/https://digilander.libero.it/inmemoria/boss_mafiosi.htm#Boss%20mafiosi. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sennecaster (What now?) 22:06, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Pietro Scaglione.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pietro Scaglione.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Eugénie Fougère, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Variety. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Gaetano Salvemini

2603:7000:4B3E:8B0E:2915:325C:EE84:5115 (talk) 02:12, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
