Howard Kevin Stern (born November 29 1968) was born in Los Angeles, California to a Jewish family. [1] Howard is the former attorney and boyfriend of the late Anna Nicole Smith. On September 10 2006, he was with Anna Nicole when her son Daniel Wayne Smith died in Nassau, Bahamas. He has angrily denied allegations by Anna Nicole's mother that he was involved in Daniel's death.[2]

On September 26 2006, he claimed in an interview from the Bahamas with Larry King on CNN that he is the father of Anna Nicole's newborn baby girl, contrary to identical claims by entertainment journalist Larry Birkhead.[3] The Bahamian birth certificate lists the daughter's name as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern with Howard as the father.[4] Stern and Smith reportedly remained in the Bahamas for an extended period of time to avoid paternity testing in the United States.[5]

On September 28 2006, they exchanged vows in an informal wedding ceremony on a boat near Nassau, though it was not a legally binding marriage. During the ceremony, Stern reportedly wore a tuxedo t-shirt and a pair of bicycle shorts.[6] Their wedding photos were sold through Getty Images to People Magazine for around $1 million dollars.[7]

On February 8 2007, he was present during the death of his unofficial wife Anna Nicole Smith in Hollywood, Florida, after she was found unresponsive in a room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.[8][9]

Education

Stern graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1994.[10]
