Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent edits, such as the ones to the page Dred Scott, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the "sandbox" rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can write {{helpme}} below this message along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Hitro talk 15:14, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Auntielandra. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Elijah Muhammad, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Hitro talk 15:46, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Elijah Muhammad may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • '''Elijah Muhammad''' (born '''Elijah Robert Poole'''; October 7, 1897 – and is an [[African-American]] [[Religion|

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 15:58, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Elijah Muhammad. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 16:03, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I noticed you removed the redirect from Fred White to the band Earth, Wind and Fire and introduced more information about Fred White. Wikipedia has a number of policies regarding notability of subjects for articles. It is my view that there are insufficient independent, reliable sources that establish nobility at and individual level. While the band is clearly notable, the only references I found for FW are passing mentions in relation to the band. However, to establish individual notability, one would normally expect coverage about the person independent of the band. This I did not find. Notability is generally not inherited by association with a notable topic. If you have any questions, please let me know. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 08:33, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
