Since the opening of Addison Trail, there have been significant changes to the school. In 1976, construction of a new addition was approved because of a growing student population.<ref name=":1" /> In 2008, construction began on new renovations, which included a new 3-story classroom addition, student commons area and field house.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://prev.dailyherald.com/story/?id=348063|title=$115 million rehab work at Addison Trail, Willowbrook halfway done|work= Daily Herald|access-date=20 July 2017}}</ref> The renovations and additions were completed in 2010.<ref>{{Cite news|url=http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20101016/news/710179851/|title=Addison Trail, Willowbrook dedicate renovations|last=Mistretta|first=Elisabeth|work=Daily Herald|access-date=26 July 2017}}</ref> In 2010, Village of Addison purchased what was once Driscoll High School with the primary intention of using it as Addison Trail's athletic fields.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://prev.dailyherald.com/story/?id=411797|title=Driscoll sale to Addison finalized|work=Daily Herald|access-date=20 July 2017}}</ref> The acquired land was named Blazer Park.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://addisonadvantage.org/newsletter/archives/February11.htm|title=From the Desk of Mayor Larry Hartwig|website=Village of Addison eNewsletter|date=February 2011|access-date=20 July 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161215221507/http://addisonadvantage.org/newsletter/archives/February11.htm|archive-date=15 December 2016|url-status=dead}}</ref> The school has a total of 120 classrooms and its still going on.The basement has an Auto Tech classroom, including a woodshop,a photography classroom plus driver eds room,An Credit recovery room and An BRC(behavioral resource center) and a fitness gym.Plus there is a couple of classrooms used for sports and education classes.
The Addison Trail High School has a deep and rich history over the past 56 years. There have been significant changes to the school. In 1976, the school began multiple protests outside of the Addison town hall to raise a budget to compensate for the rapidly growing immigrant students.<ref name=":1" /> Due to the accumulation of property damage and litter, the protests for a reasonable education budget backfired and caused an enormous court case in which Addison Trail was sued for $800,000 which would have been worth $300,000,000 today, resulting in several detriments to the educational institutes infrastructure. Despite the severe debt that the school has gone through, construction began in 2008 which housed extra students.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://prev.dailyherald.com/story/?id=348063|title=$115 million rehab work at Addison Trail, Willowbrook halfway done|work= Daily Herald|access-date=20 July 2017}}</ref> The renovations and additions were completed in 2010.<ref name=":0">{{Cite news|last=Dupage88|first=Webpage|title=Addison Trail|work=Dupage88|url=https://dupage88.net|access-date=26 July 2017}}</ref> In 2010, the Village of Addison bought multiple school playgrounds for the primary intention of converting them into athletic fields for the Addison Trail High School.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://prev.dailyherald.com/story/?id=411797|title=Driscoll sale to Addison finalized|work=Daily Herald|access-date=20 July 2017}}</ref> The acquired land was named Da Blazer Hood.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://addisonadvantage.org/newsletter/archives/February11.htm|title=From the Desk of Mayor Larry Hartwig|website=Village of Addison eNewsletter|date=February 2011|access-date=20 July 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161215221507/http://addisonadvantage.org/newsletter/archives/February11.htm|archive-date=15 December 2016|url-status=dead}}</ref> The school debt including interest has increased to $342,567,010 until 2016 and has gone through serious amounts of trouble in attempts to raise money. In January of 2014, every single room in the basement floor was converted into multiple industrial factories. Due to the low budget of the school, the equipment required for the electives in the basement were never obtained in time and as a result, students that chose these elective courses would be sent to these factories to do laborious tasks by hand under the guise of education. In a last ditch attempt to cut losses, the school began to rent the basement floor towards multiple corporations for cheap workers while giving students an education in factory work but the school was eventually shut down and put under new management for child labor and abuse. The short-lived legacy of the Addison Trail Sweat Shops were hidden under the facade of an auto tech classroom, a wood shop, and a behavioral research center which was converted into an asylum. Another attempt to raise money for the school was the fitness gym and had a $15 membership fee. After parents and students were outraged by the nefarious acts inflicted upon the children of Addison by this school, most of the District 88 management and staff were fired and the school finally received the good funding needed to give the students a good education. After this event, the student graduation rate drastically increased from 0.02% to 98%<ref name=":0" /> and in 2021, the school began to approve funding towards a budget of 1 Bitcoin for the esteemed Crypto Club which launched the Non-fungible Token Campaign. As a result, multiple NFTs were sold on [https://magiceden.io/ The Magic Eden] and went to the moon and profits were distributed towards the students of the Crypto Club.

History

Addison Trail High School opened on 1 September 1966.[12] Before the opening of Addison Trail, there were two other high schools within District 88 – York High School in Elmhurst and Willowbrook High School in Villa Park. Due to the rapid growth within District 88, Addison Trail was approved for construction, making it the third in the district.[12]

The Addison Trail High School has a deep and rich history over the past 56 years. There have been significant changes to the school. In 1976, the school began multiple protests outside of the Addison town hall to raise a budget to compensate for the rapidly growing immigrant students.[12] Due to the accumulation of property damage and litter, the protests for a reasonable education budget backfired and caused an enormous court case in which Addison Trail was sued for $800,000 which would have been worth $300,000,000 today, resulting in several detriments to the educational institutes infrastructure. Despite the severe debt that the school has gone through, construction began in 2008 which housed extra students.[13] The renovations and additions were completed in 2010.[14] In 2010, the Village of Addison bought multiple school playgrounds for the primary intention of converting them into athletic fields for the Addison Trail High School.[15] The acquired land was named Da Blazer Hood.[16] The school debt including interest has increased to $342,567,010 until 2016 and has gone through serious amounts of trouble in attempts to raise money. After this event, the student graduation rate drastically increased from 0.02% to 98%[14] and in 2021, the school began to approve funding towards a budget of 1 Bitcoin for the esteemed Crypto Club which launched the Non-fungible Token Campaign. As a result, multiple NFTs were sold on The Magic Eden and went to the moon and profits were distributed towards the students of the Crypto Club.

Academics

In 2009, Newsweek, using the Challenge Index, ranked Addison Trail #121 in its list of the top 1,500 public high schools in America.[17]

In 2017, Addison Trail had an average composite ACT score of 20 and 98% of its senior class graduated.[18] The Addison Trail High School has met Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievement Examination in which with the ACT was comprised up of the assessments which were used to fulfill the mandates of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.[4] The school exceeded expectations in reading, and three of the four students subgroups met the expectations in both mathematics and reading.[4] These beautiful achievements would not have been possible if not for the efforts of the parents and students who alerted authorities to intervene with poor practices in the Addison Trail High School.
