Mohsin Javed Dawar (Template:Lang-ps) is a Pashtun politician from Miramshah, within the North Waziristan district of Bannu Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pashtunistan, who is the chairman of the National Democratic Movement (NDM). He is an activist in the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), and has been a member of the National Assembly since August 2018.

Political career

Dawar was associated with the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) since February 2018.[2] until he resigned from PTM and formed his own political National Democratic movement, He had leadership differences with Manzoor Pashteen over who will run PTM

He was elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate from NA-48 (Tribal Area-IX) in the 2018 general election.[3] He received 16,526 votes and defeated Mufti Misbahudin of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).[4]

On 1 September 2021, Dawar founded a political party, National Democratic Movement.[5] He left the PTM and formed his own party to promote rights of pashtoons.

Controversy

In April 2020, Dawar tried to downplay the seriousness of the coronavirus in Pashtunistan claiming in a village that corona was "nothing" and only a "way of making money", remarks which have raised serious concerns as those could easily misguide the people living in the tribal region. Dawar also criticized the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for establishing quarantine centers in educational institutions.[6][7][8]
