The Bagata are a designated Scheduled Tribe in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.[2]

The Bagata mainly speak the Bagata language, written in the Bagata script, but they also speak Telugu and Odia. The latter is mostly in a dialect known as Desiya Odia.

The Bagata are primarily Hindus.

In 1976 the Bagata had the highest rate of indebtedness of any of the scheduled tribes of Andhra Pradesh.[3]
