Please make full use of Template:Decrease for websites' Alexa rank

Greetings!

Alas I don't have time to personally join your worthy project, but I still wanted to give you a small heads-up since it seems within the scope of your project:

Template:Decrease, which produces these nice red & green arrow-thingys indicating a rank change ( & ), actually also has options for negative increase {{IncreaseNegative}} and positive decrease {{DecreasePositive}}.

These should be used whenever there is a ranking in which - like e.g. in sports - 1st place is best, and higher numbers worse.

This is used as intended in a number of Wikipedia articles, but notably not in the vast majority of websites which have an Alexa rank. But Alexa ranks are like that - the lower, the better!

So to avoid confusion for the reader, I strongly suggest to henceforth use the proper pointing arrow on all Alexa rankings (and also on all other applicable rankings).

I tried to update a few articles to use this by hand, but I could not find a way to correct all instances automatically. If there is one, I'd love to know how to use it. --LordPeterII (talk) 18:35, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

How to declare a site dead

Eventful appears to be dead. Currently, the URL is a redirect to another site owned by Entercom, the parent company. I didn't find any general-purpose wiki-editor-howto pages that address how to handle the death of a (notable) webpage. Eventful seems to be in a middle zone of notability: notable enough to get some third-party coverage in the past, but not notable enough that people (especially reliable sources like the press) notice its demise immediately. Combine that with a corporate owner who I'm sure would like to downplay its failure. The only third party source I found is in a mailing list hosted on google groups (maybe accessible at https://groups.google.com/group/eventful-api-developers) -- recent mailing list poster David is an Eventful employee posting from an eventful.com email address. How is something like this to be handled? I have a reasonably long history of Wikipedia micro-edits (fix a link, remove small vandalisms, etc), but not much experience in significant content updates such as this.
