According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 4,497. By 2010, the district's population declined to 4,210 people.[1] In 2009, the district residents' per capita income was $17,193, while the median family income was $42,246. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501[2] and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010.[3] By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100.[4]

Extracurriculars

Avella Area School District offers a wide variety of clubs, activities and an extensive sports program. Eligibility for participation is determined by school board policy and in compliance with standards set by the Pennsylvania interscholastic Athletics Association (PIAA).[5]

By Pennsylvania law, all K-12 students in the district, including those who attend a private nonpublic school, cyber charter school, charter school and those homeschooled, are eligible to participate in the extracurricular programs, including all athletics. They must meet the same eligibility rules as the students enrolled in the district's schools.[6]
