The remark about elites being “white Anglo Saxon Protestants” is inflammatory and impertinent. The generic socioeconomic identity of “the elite” in America is a matter of common knowledge, and emphasizing it in this article accomplished little. What is the purpose of the remark? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.29.35.178 (talk) 09:15, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Source for improvement
Page needs improvement, and the best source for that is probable White show, a book I just added as first cite.E.M.Gregory (talk) 17:25, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure you meant John Oller's White Shoe, but White Shoe Show might have been amore apt! Lindenfall (talk) 19:29, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- Also, E.M.Gregory, you'll see I've attempted to make the information more accurate to the source, here and elsewhere. Paul Cravath didn't create the white-shoe firm, but a system adopted by them, beginning 50 years before the term even came into use. (And, the WASPs-only and anti-Semitic policies once definitively associated with white-shoe firms is very much older than either, of course.) Lindenfall (talk) 21:45, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
