Regarding an article

Hi, I have recently created an article "George H. W. Bush 1992 presidential campaign". Since you have created and contributed to many articles related to presidential campaigns, which are good articles of Features articles, could you please help in improving the article, as I want to nominate it for GA. I have already requested it to be copy-edited. Thank-you! Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 16:27, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look at it.William S. Saturn (talk) 00:37, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@William S. Saturn Hi, thanks for copy-editing the article. If you have completed copy editing, kindly add the Done tag ( Done) on the request page (Guild of copy editors) and {{GOCE}} tag on articles talk page, as I want to nomintae it for GAN. Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 04:30, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I read the article and did a cursory copy edit but there's still much more copy editing to be done. The article is a good outline and organizes the material well but it needs a lot more.
There's too much background information on Bush in the lead. The article itself is heavy on background as well, which is fine, but the other sections are less detailed. The info on the Republican primary and his opponents is sparse. There's more about the Democratic primary than it. For example, Alan Keyes is first introduced as having won delegates for the convention. How did that come about?
There's little mention about how Bush tried to make this election about foreign affairs. It mentions the Gulf War but it misses the fall of the Berlin Wall, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the military intervention in Panama. The culture war was a major theme of this election as well, so it's good that you included Pat Buchanan's convention speech, but there's more. Dan Quayle's Murphy Brown feud and Bush's criticism of the Simpsons are part of that. The "Thousand points of light" was also something Bush emphasized, which was a precursor of his son's "Compassionate conservatism". The economy is thought to have factored more than anything else, however, and James Carville's quote "it's the economy, stupid" needs to be there somewhere.
It should be noted that there's a common belief the reason Bush lost the election was because of the "spoiler effect" with Ross Perot. In addition, the Bush campaign may have employed "dirty tricks" in allegedly threatening to release salacious photos of Perot's daughter to convince him to withdraw from the race.
There's nothing about the rest of Bush's life, particularly how he became like a surrogate father to Bill Clinton afterwards. And what effect did this campaign have on future campaigns, such as those of Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, and Jeb Bush. What role did George W. and Jeb have in this campaign? Why did Quayle run for president against George W. in 2000?William S. Saturn (talk) 05:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@William S. Saturn Hi, thanks a lot for your help and suggestions. I have tried to add the mentioned points in the article as suggested by you. Also, I have shifted some of the information from background to Presidency section. Kindly let me know of any changes required in the article, and is the article still missing some important information about the campaign? Thank-you!
