Further information link
@Mathglot: since you insist: I think it makes sense here to indicate that we're linking to a section in the article on insanity defense, instead of an article on "temporary insanity". Since these usually link to articles, we're implying that we have an entire article on "temporary insanity", when in fact we have a three sentence section. Since these topics are closely linked, there's a good chance that the reader here has already read insanity defense and would therefore choose to avoid clicking the link, should they know that it goes to that article. If it seemed like "temporary insanity" was a good target for expansion into an article, leaving this would be reasonable - but there's hardly any information to begin a split, nor does it look like anyone is interested in doing such a thing. Therefore, I think we should link directly to the relevant section on insanity defense, making said destination clear to readers.
Also, please observe WP:NOTBROKEN before citing it: That is, editors should not change, for instance,
(emphasis mine) I think it was clear that my change was not cosmetic, and instead was intended to change the visible text of the link. Elli (talk | contribs) 07:11, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Franklin Roosevelt
to Franklin D. Roosevelt
or Franklin Roosevelt
just to "fix a redirect". However, it is perfectly acceptable to change it to Franklin D. Roosevelt
if for some reason it is preferred that "Franklin D. Roosevelt" actually appear in the visible text.
Archiving weirdness
User:Lowercase sigmabot III recently created Archive 5. However, this archive does not show up in the list of archives on this page. Even odder, the Archive 2, Archive 3, and Archive 4 pages do not exist. --Khajidha (talk) 13:56, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- I believe the bot-initialisation template was mis-configured. If someone moves /archive_5 to /archive_2 -- or merges it with archive_1, to taste -- then changes the counter=5 to counter=2 (or =1), I think order will be restored to the universe. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 05:41, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- The archive list doesn't know about gaps in a numbering sequence - it assumes that if Archive 2 doesn't exist, then nor will any other archives with higher numbers. lowercase sigmabot III has always used Archive 5, this is because Flyer22 Frozen (talk · contribs) set
|counter=5
in this edit. Yes, the best fix is to amend|counter=5
to|counter=2
and move Archive 5 to Archive 2 without creating a redirect; if a redir is created, it may safely be blanked, or perhaps deleted under WP:CSD#G6. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:45, 3 September 2021 (UTC)- All Done now. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:40, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
