How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Dimensions of RCA Cartridge
FWIW the dimensions come from the Audio Recording History which has an archived external reference link on the RCA Cartridge page. I suggest no discussion is required but you might consider turning the external link into a reference if you think there will be any further question as to size. Tom94022 (talk) 20:47, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- I'm solely concerned with using that mirror. If there are other reliable sources, then that's awesome, and no discussion is required. Kuru (talk) 22:29, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!
Thank you
Hello Good Time, I really thank you for patiently guiding me to improve my first article. One of the reasons why I chose Shahram Bozorgmehr as my first article is his good condition and record in Iranian music, and compared to Iranian singers who have articles on Wikipedia, I tried to introduce more reliable sources, and again, I did my best. I will, I hope I can get your opinion.I ask you to help me publish my first article --M.Ahmadi62 (talk) 08:57, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

- Howdy. Yeah, sorry - that's a weird one. It's a copy of a long-deleted Wikipedia article, so a little hard to notice. Kuru (talk) 01:37, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Ayan Nayak
Hey I just removed the redirected of the Daily soap as it's still not have any verification, so I redirected the actor to his draft page to his full name. I think I should not redirect to a draft page, should I redirect after the draft gets into the mainpage? ... २ तकरपेप्सी talk 19:42, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Yes; we cannot create redirects in mainspace to draft articles. Easy enough to recreate or undelete when or if the draft is moved. Kuru (talk) 19:44, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks and can you check the draft once Draft:Ayan (actor) and comment on where should I improve and how to help the draft to get ready on the main page ... २ तकरपेप्सी talk 19:54, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Idris bin Abdullah al-Senussi Edits
Hi Kuru,
I see you changed my edits on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idris_bin_Abdullah_al-Senussi. For reference, I'm doing my Master's in Libyan History and am very familiar with this topic. When I came across this page, I was literally moved to make a Wiki account to edit this absolutely egregious page. It is so incredibly dishonest, not least because it brushes over so much important information such as the 1995 court case, the Debrett's ruling, or the completely made-up things.
Questions for you:
1. What would be an acceptable source for the 1995 Court Case? Or other articles? Obviously these articles have been scrubbed from the internet so the Forum are the only places to find them. I can easily get these from newspaper archives and upload pictures and would be willing to do so.
2. Why did you return uncited and inaccurate information to the page? "Prince Idris al-Senussi began working on leading the royal family and uniting Libya, as this role was passed onto him by his late father." (This is literally untrue)
"He has also been playing a diplomatic role to help balance the differences between Libya and Africa, the Arab World, Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia." (What diplomatic role?)
"He returned to Libya on 23 December 2011 with his cousin, Prince Ahmed Zubair Al-Senussi." (He does not live in Libya)
Idris is supported by an Advisory Council (the Senussi royal family allows polygamy, which is "a factor that complicates all claims of royal legitimacy through descent")[2] that heads the Sanussiyyah movement which embraces the majority of Libyan tribes.
(Again, this is entirely untrue and has no citation to prove it)
3. Why did you return clearly propagandistic information to the page?
(It doesn't take much intelligence to see where that is)
4. Why did you delete information sourced from clearly reliable websites (such as the Globe and Mail) which I added the page?
Your answers would be helpful and would materially contribute to my ability to make this page better and more historically accurate.
Thanks Moonlight Sunshine Moonlightsunshine1994 (talk) 14:13, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello. As much of your material was sourced to clearly inappropriate sources, such as self-identified copies of Wikipedia articles and open forum posts, I restored the material to its original state. I would suggest you utilize sources that comply with our policy on this at WP:RS, and you can avoid problems in the future. As a graduate student, you should be quite familiar with evaluating and citing sources. I would suggest utilizing the article's talk page if you have content-related questions specific to the article. Kuru (talk) 15:24, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. Is it best practice to simply remove all edits if some are well sourced and some are not? Might you be able to review my previous changes and approve those that were well sourced, instead of blankly deleting all edits? or would you like me to go back and add again those sources which are well sourced. There is also quite a few issues with past unsourced material which I see you elected not to remove. Please advise

Olivia_Molina_Avellaneda
Hello, Kuru! Good afternoon! I read your message about my edit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Olivia_Molina_Avellaneda , and the intention with my article is really to register a complete content containing a little more of her story, showing the different areas of her work and activities and I definetly don't have the purpose to promote her. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong message with my text, hope you can understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Priscillaglima (talk • contribs) 15:39, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello Kuru
Hii Kuru I just got the message about - Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to CASA ratio. actually, this site - thebankpedia.com isn't my site and I felt that this site has written an article about CASA Ratio so it helped the user to get more information about casa ratio so that's why I added this link but its ok if you felt that it's not relating the topic then you can remove the link but please don't give my mistake penalty to the owner of this site. Thank you & Have a nice day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.159.152.99 (talk) 16:19, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Dubbing (filmmaking) and ED-Tech Press
Thank you for the edit-summary explanation of your removal of ED-Tech Press source from Dubbing (filmmaking). After looking into it, I completely agree with you regarding WP:CIRCULAR. Regarding your mention of "ed-tech press scam", could you please point me to lists or discussions so that I can avoid these kinds of publishers in the future? I know that the software will warn you if you try to publish a noted dubious source (say, from lulu.com), but I didn't get any notice for this one. Aithus (talk) 04:24, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Not sure on the auto-notice. I keep a short list of Wikipedia republishers here if that helps. Some of them are really clear and attribute correctly, like PediaPress, but this one is an outright scam. They copy from a variety of sources, and run out of a fake storefront. Kuru (talk) 04:31, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- That's a great list. Perhaps it should be added to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Aithus (talk) 14:22, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Spam
Hi Apologies in case I come off as a spammer. I don't own that domain and only reverted the first wiki. Wikiguru64 (talk) 18:32, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, it's very clearly a promotional link, which you added to three different articles and then reverted back in. I'll assume good faith this time, please do not add it again. Kuru (talk) 19:51, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
Clarification on reasoning for content removal
Hi Kuru,
I see you have removed my addition to the management consulting article: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Management_consulting&oldid=1071927356
You left a series of suggestions and reminders following the removal of the contribution, the bulk of which seem to be associated with a presumed COI. This is aligned with your explanatory comment for the edit: "this is just marketing-speak for every boutique consulting firm; serious COI problem again".
I have no problem with declaring my relationship with the company to which I referred, but I was hoping I could get further guidance on how I might ensure the contribution is given due consideration and find out if there is more required here before I do so.
For example, I am not sure what it is specifically to which you are referring RE "marketing-speak" and "boutique consulting firm", and I do not understand the critique. If there is a problem with the content, could you please provide some more specific detail about what was said in the contribution that was problematic?
I am not receiving nor will I receive any compensation for the contribution - the addition was included because the 'trends' section corresponded very closely to the adaptations of the company to which I referred. It is also not meant to be promotional, and there was no link to the company website included.
In short, I have assumed that people are able to make contributions to a topic if they have some kind of immediate relationship to that topic so long as that relationship is declared and any risk of bias or ulterior motive etc. is exposed. If I am incorrect in this understanding, then I would greatly appreciate it if you could direct me to where in Wikipedia's policies I can find details about such exclusions.
I am confident that with your assistance I will be able to correct my contribution so that it is fit for purpose.
Cheers,
NecessityBreeds (talk) 04:47, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- Every single little consulting firm has a wall of marketing gibberish they use to create an aura of differentiation in a highly competitive space. There is nothing notable about the firm you work for. There is no need to try to kludge it in to the consulting article. As you have a massive COI, that should have ethically been declared at a minimum. Given the history of your editing patterns, it's probably wise to avoid any future editing where you have any conflicts. There are literally millions of articles for you to edit, if you're serious about helping the thousands of honest volunteers that keep this project viable. Kuru (talk) 13:39, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Promoting Landmark
I made some edits to Landmark Worldwide page. I understand not all of them met guidelines new to editing and need to familiarise myself better.
But the new edits make Landmark seem like a legitimate personal development company, when there are many credible experts such as cult experts Rick Alan Ross who runs the Cult Education website and Mack Moore on Quora who affirm that Landmark is a cult.
Plus countless survivor testimonials on Ross' website, Quora, Reddit and including myself, which show that this is a dangerous harmful organisation whose intention is to turn people into sales reps for their courses.
I was in this cult for five years so I speak from hard won experience and have had to endure verbal abuse, bullying and discrimination because of my disability (ADHD) because of this group which has left me with a lifetime if trauma and PTSD.
I've also had to have calls with people where they have been angry at being harassed by Landmark having put themselves on do not call lists which was just ignored by Landmark. I also had to have a phonecall where a woman told me their female partner did the Forum and was triggered into committing suicide.
I understand you have critical parts in it but overall it is biased and reads like a brochure or propaganda tool for Landmark to recruit more innocent and vulnerable people. Wikipedia has a duty to not legitimise harmful organisations and he upfront in laying out plainly the issues with this training. Albert8879 (talk) 14:41, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- I've never seen the article or heard of the entity before today. As I noted, please direct your proposals to the article's talk page. It appears there are active editors there who can help you evaluate your sourcing. Please note that we cannot use mirrors - sites which copy Wikipedia articles. You will also need to use solid sourcing for the rest of the material. I understand you have strong feelings about the topic, but your best bet will be to have rational discussions with the other editors that frequent that material and build a consensus for your proposals. Hello user, I’m the founder of Parinamika, a non profit organisation in India. I have recently seen that you have removed all of the information from the article. Ilumina
The information I added on synopsis, which I copied from over 10 years ago, is proven true by GMA Playground on YouTube.
GMA Playground is GMA Network’s digital playing field where kids can learn AND have fun. The whole previous sentence is copied from GMA Playground's Youtube Channel, specifically on their ABOUT page. Since Ilumina is a TV series that originally aired on GMA Network, the information that was originally there over 10 years ago is true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KyleTheBrozay (talk • contribs) 06:06, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification. As I am a new user so didn't know about adding citation links.

Hi
You reverted the article a few days ago, and since then it has been a little warred over.
My concern is listed here Talk:WeWork#Fix_the_article_please.
When the article was reverted by you, it was fine, in a prose style and in reasonable standing.
It then had a couple of edits that turned it into a massive list of bullet points.
I have asked for someone to fix it, but wondered if you could go and take a look - and maybe keep an eye on it?

Removing my changes from Marketing Automation page
Hi Kuru, thanks for visiting my talk page. I made a change on that marketing automation page as I think the sentence tonality of "Marketing Automation involves multiple areas of marketing and is really the marriage of email marketing technology coupled with a structured sales process" looks inappropriate. It is confusing. Using the words like marriage.
Can we make a change to this sentence tonality? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Milanbhatia12 (talk • contribs) 12:54, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Articles on nuclear reactors
Hello Kuru. I have a question about your edit on ThorCon_nuclear_reactor. "rmv non-WP:RS : open wiki / user-generated material" Is this a ban on anything originating on Citizendium?
The statement you deleted was not intended as a reliable source, supporting some questionable point, but just an introductory statement to motivate the reader and set the focus of the article. I can replace that statement with something a little longer: "This reactor is one of many new-generation designs responding to the issues that have held back widespread use of nuclear power, include safety, waste management, weapons proliferation, and cost. This article will address those issues."
As for the material being user-generated, I'm not sure what to do about that. I wrote most of the original article ThorCon nuclear reactor for Citizendium, but I am not needing it as a reliable source. As I understand it, their Creative Commons licensing is the same as Wikipedia. How do we acknowledge the source, without saying anything about reliability? Is there a template to do this, or is it better to just add a statement, like the article on Molten Salt Reactors.
"This page is a shortened and simplified version of the Wikipedia article, focused on just the issues raised in Nuclear power reconsidered. See the original for more details and additional information on the history and recent developments in many countries."
I hope there isn't some conflict between Wikipedia and Citizedium that would preclude this kind of cooperation.
Thank you for your attention to this article.
David MacQuigg 02:06, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- There's no conflict - we just don't use non-source inline external links except in rare situations in the body of an article. It may be more suitable as a link in an "external links" section with some brief narrative on why it is included. If you've copied material from Citizendium, then a brief acknowledgement of the source would go at the end of the article. There's a template for that somewhere, but I could not locate it quickly - it's pretty rare again. It's always always best to use your own words instead of copying from another used-generate site, even one with a compatible license. Kuru (talk) 13:28, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will copy this discussion to the article Talk page and hope that we can develop a consensus on sources for this article. David MacQuigg 15:31, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

Review the article
Hello Kuru,
I wish you are doing great. And I am glad that I have an opportunity to contact you here. As soon as I learnt how to edit and create articles here in Wikipedia, I started to do more and more in several langauges. So far I created articles in the following fields: business, medicine, cinematography, sociology, history, politics, entertainment. Mostly I translated English articles into Turkish and Uzbek Wikipedia. And I mostly edited articles in English Wikipedia by updating and renewing the existing old information. But I found there are some editors who are making a biased edits to some of my articles in several languages. For example here in English Wikipedia my article about Utkirbek Kakhorov ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utkirbek_Kakhorov ) was nominated for deletion by one of the users. Then I tried to improve the article with credited proven information on the web and I wrote about it in the needed section of the deletion. As after it is not deleted yet, the user (with the Russian username Kagansky) inserted some biased information which is not backed up with references. I want you to check out the article and its well-being. And please suggest me how to protect my articles from edits that affect the reputation of the organizations, people etc that articles are about.
Thank you for your help I appreciate it Film contributor (talk) 06:47, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
