The Musk family is a notable family in United States of South African having Canadian background. The family, of which Elon Musk is a member, is prominent in the entertainment and business.[1]

The family traces its origins to England, where the surname has been adopted by Elon's paternal ancestors since 16th century, before one of whom emigrated to South Africa for permanent settlement.[citation needed]
