Westmar High School is a public high school in Lonaconing, Maryland that houses students from the George's Creek area and from the US 220 region in southern Allegany County (the following towns are included in this district: Lonaconing, Westernport, Barton, Midland, McCoole, and Danville/Dawson).

The school's mascot is the Wildcat and its school colors are red and gray.

History

The school was established in the fall of 1989 as a result of the consolidation of Valley High School and Bruce High School. Westmar is located in the old Valley High building.

Although Bruce High School was the first High School of its community, Valley High School can trace its roots back to Central High School (of Upper George's Creek) and Barton High School. Before Barton, Central, and Bruce came into being the area was filled with small school houses for each and every neighborhood.
