The original Brockley Whins station, on the York Newcastle & Berwick line from Newcastle to Sunderland had only had a platform on the down line. This meant upline trains crossing over to allow passengers to alight. This single line working arrangement resulted in a fatal collision and the building of a second platform originally some distance from the other, as well as changes to the law.

Brockley Whins Metro station is on the Tyne and Wear Metro Green Line. It serves the Brockley Whins area of South Tyneside, England.
