Jang Mun-ik (Korean: 장문익, born March 20, 2001), also known by the mononym Munik (Korean: 문익), is a South Korean singer and actor under Dongyo Entertainment. He is a member of the South Korean boy group DKZ.
Early life
Jang Mun-ik was born on March 20, 2001, in Busan, South Korea. Since he was young, Munik has been practicing kendo and even received certification.[1]
Musical career
2018–2021: Dongkiz
Before his official debut with Dongkiz, Munik had been actively promoting in and out of Korea.[2][3] He also gained attention after appearing in an advertisement with Chungha.[4]
On April 24, 2019, Munik officially debuted with the release of their single album, Dongkiz on the Block.[5] In an interview, Munik mentioned BTS as an artist he respects the most.[6]
Munik and Jaechan formed the sub-group Dongkiz I:Kan on July 7, 2020.[7] They later debuted with their song "Y.O.U.".[8]
On August 24, 2021, on the group's social media it was announced that Munik would be taking a break from activities due to health reasons.[9]
2022–present: DKZ
On March 18, 2022, the group re-branded to DKZ while Munik remained on hiatus.[10]
