Deletion
Club Penguin is cool, why was the article deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.101.179.37 (talk • contribs)
- There was alot of bad grammar and spelling, and the editing (believed to be done by young children), only seemed to make the article worse. If we can keep those people from editing again, then article will not be deleted again. 70.129.101.160 00:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Criticism
Can this be verified. I have not found any sites that critize the artwork.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.116.71.77 (talk • contribs) 11:43, 4 September 2006
- I agree. Unless someone can find a verifiable source commmenting on "the poor quality of the graphics," it should be removed. --Satori Son 15:51, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- I can't find any sources full stop! I have to congratulate you there mate. J Ditalk 15:52, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Grammar And Other Problems
Okay, first if all, the grammar and spelling in this article is horrible. The coins should be in a seperate part. The puffles top needs to be capitalized, and the minigames need to be capitalized as well. And the puffle section needs to be rewrote, its bad in my opinion. And the staff added more servers due to massive popularity lately. EDIT I see that mostly evrything has been deleted. You planning on a full rewrite? --Moozipan 21:33, 8 September 2006
Game guide info
Please see Wikipedia's policy that states Wikipedia is not a game guide. I removed the material from the article that was a game guide because it is explicitly not suitable for an encyclopedia. Gwernol 07:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Your deletion of material under the "Secret Agents" section was clearly appropriate, but it still says:
- "Secret Agent Penguins are moderators who help enforce the rules of Club Penguin.
- They also help new members get started in the game."
- Not only is this statement unsourced, it is misleading and inaccurate (any member can earn a Secret Agent designation by completing certain tasks). I recommend deleting this entire section. Comments? --Satori Son 20:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree, it should be deleted. J Ditalk 20:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe we could keep this section but change it a lot - you're right - secret agents aren't moderators but it is an important part of the game. --Jatkins 19:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Heck, this is gonna sound totally wild, but um, if it's incorrect, shouldn't somebody change it..? J Ditalk 19:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe we could keep this section but change it a lot - you're right - secret agents aren't moderators but it is an important part of the game. --Jatkins 19:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree, it should be deleted. J Ditalk 20:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Bickering
Guys Calm down personally this guide should be opened for editing as i think that the content of the current page is appaling and that 2 year olds could do better. So just reopen it and get an administrator to help run the page by banning submitors of dodgy edits ROGSMER
- The admin who has being trying to keep an eye on this active article, Gwernol, has graciously changed the article to Semi-Protected status. This means that it can now be edited again, but only by users who have been registered for at least four days. To User:Rogsmer, if you can improve the article, I would now encourage you to be bold and do so. And all of us need to do our part to get the article up to standards. The main issue seems to concern users trying to make this into a game guide. See WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information that specifically prohibits "tutorials, walk-throughs, instruction manuals, video game guides..." Also, all edits should provide a source citation per Wikipedia:Verifiability. Thanks, Satori Son 18:29, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
well, mainly children who are playing it, so I think that children should edit it.they know a lot more about it, and even if the information is wrong in some places it's not like anyone is going to be doing a big report on it or something. I mean, honestly, its not that big a deal. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.197.180.175 (talk • contribs) 15:23, 14 February 2007.
Gameplay and Production Section...
Gameplay is the easiest section to make. A gameplay section (plus a few screenshots) would greatly hel a casual reader who just happenned to stumble onto the article. A production section would also improve the article, and'll help bring up a level on the article assessment rating. For the gameplay, talk about currency, what players can do, maybe the mini games, events, but makke sure it doesn't sound like a game guide. Abby724 00:16, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- As long as it's not a walk-through or tutorial, a gameplay summary section would certainly be appropriate. Here are some articles that reached Featured Article status and have solid gameplay sections: Donkey Kong, Doom, Final Fantasy X-2, Katamari Damacy, and Super Mario 64. --Satori Son 00:37, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- I have taken a stab at starting it, but it is still obviously very rudimentary. Please expand, but follow the guidelines set forth in WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. And all info must have citations to appropriate sources. --Satori Son 01:52, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Screen Shot
Can some older member place this screen shot somewhere in the article, since i can't do so? Cp2.gif --Stikshift 14:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like you did it fine. I moved it down to the new Gameplay section and updated the copyright licensing tag. --Satori Son 01:54, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Please stop ranting about the article in the discussion page.
I think many of you've noticed that this is an encyclopedia. A forum is not an encyclopedia. An encyclopedia is not a forum. If you want to rant, just do it on your userpage, or on a forum, where it belongs. I'm taking the rants off the talkpage, and anymmore will be deleted, Kapeesh? Abby724 00:45, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- In fact, any comment that does not deal specifically with this Wikipedia article will be removed. This includes requests for help with gameplay, random observations, hints and tips, and telling us how much "teh game R0KS!!" --Satori Son 13:14, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Anyone know what the lighthouse game will be?
- Umm anyone know what the game at the lighthouse is? I know it has to do with rockets...
I is pie 01:00, 8 October 2006 (UTC)19:01
No one said there was going to be a light housee game, and that has to do with a secret agent mission(in the HQ it used to say "Secret Message: Blast Off).
-Moozipan from pinataisland.info
- The lighthouse game is on the beacon, and it's called "Jetpack Adventure". You fly around club penguin, getting as many points as you can and try not to die.

Help
how do i put in a screen shot i host it on image shack now wich link do i copy and paste —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.86.132.202 (talk • contribs) .
- You can't, you need to upload the image to Wikipedia first. But, you can only do this if you have the right to put the image under the GFDL or it falls within Wikipedia's fair use rules. Please make sure you understand the image copyright issues before uploading. Thanks, Gwernol 17:24, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Tone, people, tone...
Honestly, some parts of this article sound like they were written by kindergardeners with good spelling. Also, stop using the word "you" in the article. Instead, use "player". Abby724 21:38, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- True, but I moved the {{tone}} tag down to the Gameplay section. The intro section is fine. -- Satori Son 01:08, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- The {{tone}} tag is removed after what I consider to be sufficient editing. Adavidb 14:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
can some one
put this image in the secret agent section http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/396/secretagenthqyr5.png — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ooingo The Penguin (talk • contribs) - 20:59, 5 November 2006
- I uploaded the image, so noone else needs to make duplicates, okay? Also added it to article. Abby724 02:24, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
This may not be the right place, but, do we REALLY need to list every area in the game?
P.S. I'd also like to say in October whoever was talking about Abby wasn't me. I mean, really, I doubt he or she knew I was ten years old! -Moozipan (the same ones from above)
Protection
I think this page should be {{sprotect}}ed. It's vandalized sometimes by new users and I thinl protecting it might help. Bellito, master of all things Mac-related 00:31, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I agree with you; I am always reverting vandalism from the article, since new users advertise penguins many times... But I would prefer semi-protection, since it would protect the article from new users and unregistered users, who are the ones that vandalize most.
Here is a list of all new users who have vandalized this article by advertising game-penguins (which wold, most probably, be their penguins):
I will keep an eye on them to revert their vandalism and warn them about the fact that they could end up being blocked if they continue vandalizig by advertising articles.
--TomasBat 14:35, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
New section?
Perhaps we should have a moderator/being banned section. It would cover the jobs of the mods, their names, and how you get banned. At the following URL, I have a picture of what happens when you do get banned, which I think is appropiate if we were to add this section. Blocked for profanity

Puffles
There is no such thing as a "gold puffle" as of 14 December, 2006. It should be changed. Roastytoast 23:09, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Tipping the iceberg?
ITHERE ARE RUMORS THAT IT is possible to tip the iceburg n club penguin. r they valid enoigh to be added to the article? PPl claim to have done so. Warfwar3
- This shouldn't be in the article until we have a reliable source for it. I have removed it for now. -- Satori Son 05:45, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
In the December 7th article of the CP Newspaper which may be found in the newspaper archive of the boiler room, there is a reference to tipping the iceberg in one of the Ask Aunt Arctic. § Bugatti Wikipedio
That doesen't nessecarily mean it's true. Besides, the rumor started before the berg was even a flash image.
The iceberg may be tipped, in one of billybobs blogs, somebody said can you tip the ice berg? he responseded, it might, keep trying.Isyou 04:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
That's most likely still not true.
In an Aunt Arctic issue, she said something like "So far, the Iceberg hasn't tipped. But don't lose hope, it still could happen this year!" I'm not sure which issue it was in or the exact words but according to this, I think it's very unlikely for it to be possible to "Tip The Iceberg".--Coin945 13:55, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
One time in a blog this person asked billybob if the iceburg could tip. He siad "No, but its fun trying". So hopefully that answers your question people. Oh by the wayyou could try to find the blog but it was in early-mid 2006 so you would have to look a lot.
§Martigras71.213.235.184 14:01, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Too much vandalism
There is just too much vandalism in this article, which usually comes from unregistered users; so I think that, to calm a bit the vandals, this article should be semi-protected...
Anybody agree with me?
--TomasBat 17:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed! --Adavidb 04:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, this article has finally been semi-protected! --TomasBat (Talk) 02:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Moderators
In the moderators section, I think that it may be sensible to add that the moderators Billybob and Gizmo have been banned forever. So all of u Wikipedians can c for urselfz, their passwords r the same as their usernames. §Bugatti Wikipedio 23:05, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- First off, this is discussion for an encylopiedia. We do not use chat lanuage in Wikipedia. Second, they were not banned. It just says that so you cannot get onto their accounts, even if you have their password. Jmclark911 00:49, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, moderators change their name sometimes. for example: fake rsnail, fake billybob, fake gizmo....etc. They do so because they dont want people to crowd around them too much while they are doing some testing. --24.80.142.54 05:53, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Minigames
I think the minigames section in Club Penguin is too all-over-the-place and confusing. maybe it should have some material from Minigames (Club Penguin) --Coin945 12:00, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Merger proposal
I'm proposing that Rockhopper (Club Penguin) be merged with into Club Penguin as there is not enough information or notability to warrant a separate article. Squids_and_Chips 00:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree. --TomasBat (Talk)(Sign) 00:48, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
G (Club Penguin)
I think someone who has more sourced and referenced information should make another article on G because mine was too confusing. Even if it's just a stub, I'm sure it will make a great asset to the Club Penguin collection on wikipidia--Coin945 01:28, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
At the beginning of ALL club penguin. A penguin named Burba was the 'BOSS'. some people say he still plays, he has every item EVERY created my club penguin. This was the ULTIMATE PENGUIN ever made.
A comment
change the three !!! after the free eyepatch item too a period P.S. Please unblock me, im fattdoggy. 69.163.209.187 18:56, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
You are not blocked; you cannot edit here because this article is semi-protected... --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 19:17, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
It's got a beautiful lead section. Truly a wondrous, cited lead that makes other leads envious. The rest of the article, not so much so. But it's got a beautiful lead.
The basic problem is that there doesn't seem to be any sort of rhyme or reason to the article: no organization, no focus, just a bunch of individual aspects of the game. My advice is to look at some of CVG's featured articles and learning from them.
Regarding the importance (as specifically requested), there isn't enough data in the article to really give me a sense that the game is influential either in terms of being popular, well-received, or of historical note, so I'm basically giving it low-importance by default. If you have any further questions, contact me Nifboy 02:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I Changed the importance/priority to Mid; I think that the default importance rating should be Mid until more information on reception appears in the article... --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 03:14, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure of the reasoning behind that. "We have no idea whether it's important or not, so we'll say it's moderately important"? Nifboy 04:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Room Article
Just like Minigames (Club Penguin), i think that there should be an article completely devoted to giving information about all of the different rooms. It could show what they look like, what you can do there and what games you can play. I think it would be much better and much more informative that the list of "...Ski Village, Town, Boiler Room, HQ..." that we have at the present time. --Coin945 08:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I oppose. I believe that with this article it´s enough; also, I suggest we merge Minigames (Club Penguin) and other articles to this one. --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 15:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
9.87/10?
What, precisely, is the meaning of this number? Nifboy 15:35, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- That number is the average rating given to Club Penguin. --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 15:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- Source? Nifboy 16:09, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
No idea... We need to find the source or delete that rating from the article... --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 03:10, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Minigames (Club Penguin)
I know that this article was too much like a game guide but I think it made a very informative asset to wikipedia and club penguin lovers. I propose that someone with a bit more experience in making articles than I should make the article again, but a lot less gameguide-like.--Coin945 02:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
I will soon see how I can improve it... Soon I will have most of my attention in improving this article so that it can be a great article! --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 03:12, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Merge of Puffle, Lighthouse (Club Penguin), G (club penguin)
I am proposing a merge of Puffle, Lighthouse (Club Penguin), and G (club penguin) into the Club Penguin article. The Puffle article does not include much information that is not already in the Club Penguin article. The Lighthouse article is short enough to fit into this article. The G is a stub and can fit into this article. Other pages are not necessary if the information can fit into the original page and there is not a substantial amount of information to warrant the creation of another page. Squids_and_Chips 04:44, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. Go ahead and merge these articles into Club Penguin. BWJM 07:23, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I say we merge all those articles except Puffle. --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 20:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, someone please merge those, except Puffle. 68.5.28.194 22:30, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Regarding external links
[1] appears to be misleadingly official and if it isn't official, it is in violation of copyright laws. Please do not add it to the external link back again unless it can be verified to be official and/or does not violate copyright.
As for the two links that follow it, those links have been removed as they acan only be accessed by and/or is only useful to anyone who has an account for Club Penguin. Squids_and_Chips 20:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Item Lists
Shouldn't we remove them? In thr Rockhopper section, it lissts all items he's brought, which is like strategy guide material, and otherwise isn't needed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.5.28.194 (talk • contribs) 11 February 2007.
Links
Freewebs is a webmaker and don;t I have the right to make a website like the Club Penguin Wiki? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cptimes (talk • contribs) 03:31, 12 February 2007.
- Mistake on my part. I meant to removed the .swf links as they are only accessible/useful to people with Club Penguin accounts. The website you added is still in violation of copyright. Squids_and_Chips 23:42, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- You're not allowed to promote your own site, especially when that site doesn't satisfy the external link guidelines. Veinor (talk to me) 00:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Tipping The Iceburg
We should put something about tipping the iceburg. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cptimes (talk • contribs) 13:42, February 13, 2007 (UTC)
- This rumor is already discussed in the article's "Hidden locations" section. --Adavidb 13:53, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Who are "New Horizon Interactive"
The people behind this project are really shy about what kind of legal entity they are and who the people behing it are. As for the claim it is run mostly by parents - who are they and where are they?
A very sceptical parent. 80.4.39.7 09:44, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- The Contact 'tab' on NHI's web page gives an address, telephone number and email address for such questions. --Adavidb 05:15, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Incorrect. There is nothing to prove this is not some sort of scam on kids and parents. It gives a name which can be made up. No details appear of any official corporate registration in any country or sovereign state to look up the officers of the corporation (if that is what it is). No human being traceable or otherwise is identified. The address could be a correspondence address. There is no proof anyone traceable can be found there. The Club Penguin shop sells real rubbish - but as it is mail order, that is a handy way to get kids names and addresses.
- The Better Business Bureau and NetSmartz (a partnership of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Boys and Girls Clubs of America) have certified Club Penguin as safe for kids. Regarding the business itself, the BBB in Vancouver has more info. --Adavidb 15:22, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- "have certified Club Penguin as safe", really? How reassuring, except 1) who says so 2) where do they say so 3) who are those organisations 4) of what value is their "certification" 5) if the "Better Business Bureau" feels able to publish what it is told (who by?) names it claims are people associated with Club Penguin, how come none of the information is on the Club Penguin site? And there is no legal obligation for anyone to provide accurate and reliable information to the "Better Business Bureau". Is the information accurate and reliable? So have you got any real information that "Club Penguin" is "safe". Let me know when you have. If it really is safe then get the hard information and put it up here so people can really check it out. And if it is safe great, but don't expect me to take the word of some anonymous person who edits on Wikipedia. After all, look how reliable information is on Wikipedia - take a look at the "Rust" talk page, here:-
Petition, Free Accounts
If this "petition for free accounts succeeds, does that mean non-paying members will be able to buy things? And if so, how will New Horizon gain money?
Either way, where'd you find this information? 68.5.28.194 23:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
