Question from Hoymate (02:19, 20 June 2022)
Hello! I just read your history of the Pieta in the Vatican. We visited the Vatican in the late 60's and well before the sculpture was vandalized. Back then it was unprotected and visitors could RUB Jesus' foot. The top of his foot was worn almost smooth from millions of hands through the centuries. I rubbed Jesus's foot on the Pieta. I feel this should be mentioned in this article but I have no link to support this. --Hoymate (talk) 02:19, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- hi @Hoymate and welcome to wikipedia! you need a link or any sort of reliable source (including paper articles) to support this before you can add it in. do some searching using google news, has anyone commented on this fact before or on its protection? happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 02:46, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- As you sugested, I did a Google search and came up with this list. Rubbing the feet is akin to washing the feet as Jesus did. https://www.google.com/search?q=why+did+people+rub+jesus+foot+pieta+statue&source=lmns&client=firefox-b-1-d&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjHpdyfgrz4AhXLnuAKHaGzB5EQ_AUoAHoECAEQAA 35.140.67.230 (talk) 12:26, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- why did people rub jesus foot pieta statue Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- maybe one could be used to prove it, but don't forget to review the Reliable sources guideline before adding it in. you may also want to visit Talk:Pietà (Michelangelo) to notify other editors interested in the article and discuss whether the source/s would be appropriate. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 03:09, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

One of the youngest Wikipedians ever
you joined in the 4th of November of 2017, which makes you one of the youngest wikipedians evr Gavinvin13 (talk) 04:06, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- hi Gavinvin13 and welcome to wikipedia! I may've joined on 2017 but I only started actually being active last year, and besides even though we have a couple of people who've been present since the 2000s, there are much newer people here. if you have any questions regarding wikipedia please drop them here, happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 05:21, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- also, you have way too many userboxes, which I'm also trying to learn those.
- I'm pretty new here! Gavinvin13 (talk) 02:00, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Question from Supa The Barber on User:Supa The Barber (23:57, 23 June 2022)
How do I start my own page --Supa The Barber (talk) 23:57, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
How long does it take for my page to show active? --Supa The Barber (talk) 00:08, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- hi @Supa The Barber and welcome to wikipedia! are you planning to create a page about yourself? if that's so, unfortunately it's best if you avoid that. as ScottishFinnishRadish has stated on your talk page, autobiographies are discouraged as it is hard to make one that will also fit in Wikipedia's policies, namely Neutral point of view, plus it's also a conflict of interest since you are the subject. if people believe you deserve an article, they will make one of you, but only once you have met the notability standards (in this case, of people) which everything has to meet before getting an article, however do note that there are reasons to not want an article.
- if you want to write an article about something else, ideally something you know a lot about but are not personally connected with, you can by reading Your first article, stocking up on Reliable sources (also read that! it's important), and analyzing whether they meet the notability criteria for their field. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 06:01, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from User:IAhmed
Page query
I wanted to create a page for the EiC of our journal. Whats the best way to do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAhmed (talk • contribs) 08:23, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
- hi IAhmed! first question, is your editor in chief notable? I suggest avoiding making a page altogether since you're connected to them and that counts as a conflict of interest at the very least, although if you still want to continue forward then check whether they meet the notability criteria: that decides whether your subject can have an article.
- once that's done, please check out Reliable sources and Your first article for actually writing your article. happy editing — Preceding unsigned comment added by Melecie (talk • contribs) 03:00, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
Hi, I created a page here and have tried to reference anything: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prof_Peter_Kohl If you spot anything which needs to be sourced better with references let me know and I will make all suggested corrections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IAhmed (talk • contribs) 09:36, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Question from Ordinating on Penny Mordaunt (22:08, 11 July 2022)
Hi, I'm having an issue where when I'm editing Wikipedia on my phone via Google Chrome as I'm attempting to make an edit to a certain part of a paragraph of an article although my cursor stays in the correct place as I attempt to type, the text I am typing appears at the top of the paragraph rather than in the right place. Is this an issue you are aware of? Is there a way to get around/solve it? Or is it just something you have to deal with if you choose to edit on a phone? Thanks very much for your help --Ordinating (talk) 22:08, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- hi Ordinating and welcome to Wikipedia! perhaps check phabricator? I'ven't encountered this bug (although I use iOS/Safari/Desktop view when editing on mobile), so I'm unable to help you. apologies, and happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 10:38, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks very much, I'll have a look at this Ordinating (talk) 15:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
Question from Usualtalk (17:01, 25 July 2022)
Hi, alternate mentor -- thanks for being available to help.
I'm about to create a new article. What's the best way to start -- create entry in external text editor with appropriate tags (I'm familiar with using tag markup in other contexts so am comfortable learning Wikipedia's tag set) and upload the article, or using native Wikipedia WYSIWYG editor I saw mentioned? How do people like the WYSIWYG editor? --Usualtalk (talk) 17:01, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- hi Usualtalk! it depends on how you prefer to work. I usually use the built-in source editor, which allows me to press preview in the wiki instead of having to move it from my text editor to wikipedia before checking what the page looks like. source also gives you the exact code in an article, which if you're used to doing stuff with programming or markup languages can be useful.
- I don't have much experience with VisualEditor although that's not a bad place to start since it allows you to see what exactly are you doing and editing while you're still getting the hang of how the site works (instead of having to cross reference each template and how they work, you can instead see what those templates look like and what variables can be added by just clicking on them). happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 03:12, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
