The 12507 / 08 Aronai Superfast Express is a Superfast Express train belonging to Indian Railways Northeast Frontier Railway zone that runs between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Silchar in India. It holds the record of 28th longest train service in the world. Initially 12507/08 Aronai Superfast Express ran between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Guwahati. From 21 November 2017, it has been extended to Silchar.[3] After this extension, it is now the longest-running superfast train and the second longest running train in India.12507/08 Aronai Superfast Express travels a total of 3932 Kms.
It was started in 14th April 1987. It operates as train number 12507 from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Silchar and as train number 12508 in the reverse direction serving the 8 states of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.[4] [5] [6]
Service
The 12508 Silchar–Thiruvananthapuram Central Express covers the distance of 3,932 km (2,443 mi) in 74 hrs 45 mins (52.60 km/hr).
A Siliguri loco shed-based WDM-3A hauls the train from Silchar up to Howrah Junction, handing over to a Howrah-based WAP-4 which powers the train up to Visakhapatnam following which Erode or Arakkonam based WAP-4 takes over until Thiruvananthapuram Central.
