History

In 1989, Abdul Sacur and his family opened a family owned electrical appliance store in Caboolture, Queensland trading under the Brisbane Electrical Television and Trades Association (BETTA) banner. By 1998, the business had grown to six family owned stores at which time it joined the National Associated Retail Traders of Australia (NARTA) and began trading as Bi-Rite Electrical.[1]

By 2006 a further 30 electrical stores had joined Bi-Rite Electrical[2][3][4][5][6][7] and by 2012 Bi-Rite had grown to 60 stores.[8] Currently there are 83 stores that operate across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Northern Territory. [9]

In 2013 Abdul Sacur’s eldest Son Abdul Kayum Sacur was appointed successor CEO with Abdul Senior continuing in a support role.

In 2015 Bi-Rite Electrical rebranded to Bi-Rite Home Appliances to better convey their product offerings to consumers. source

Business Model

Each Bi-Rite store is wholly independent. Store owners often live in the towns where the store is located, where they employ local staff, delivery contractors and installers. Each store is encouraged to stock a core range of products commonly found in all stores.
