Why proposed for deletion?

This page has been proposed for deletion and I'm not sure why. I had two references linked to (and links to his official site and other work) when it says you only need one. Now they're gone, along with the entire article except for a few sentences. So all articles proposed for deletion are actually deleted first and then corrected? @Davescribe22: Looking at the edit summaries, a lot of the article was removed for not being sourced. Other material was removed because it was not referenced at the cited sources, so that's why the article is down to what's left. —C.Fred (talk) 14:54, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Further, the deletion is not a "normal" proposed deletion; it's WP:BLPPROD. Any biography of a living person that lacks a reliable source is subject for deletion, and it may be tagged for prod/blp repeatedly. —C.Fred (talk) 14:56, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

But what's left isn't sourced either. Someone else added that he was born in 1965, but there's no citation for that. Nor is there proof that he's a writer or a blogger or American, for that matter. So I'm not sure about the consistency here.

Is there a way to get back all of the stuff that was deleted so I can tweak the page and add references, etc? (I did link to one source that wasn't his page and it's still up - I thought one reliable source is all that is needed??). Davescribe22 (talk) 15:00, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Taking a look at the last version before it was pared down, the one independent source does not mention Sassone directly. It mentions layoffs at AOL.[1] Given that there's no source verifying that Sassone had been an employee of AOL at the time of the layoffs, the source appears to have been legitimately removed. —C.Fred (talk) 15:03, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

There is also a link to his column at the Saturday Evening Post, which I thought would suffice. As for the AOL thing, I don't know if any of the people laid off were mentioned in articles. I could probably find something at his site or LinkedIn page that says he worked there, but those wouldn't be reliable sources because they're his own sites, I'm assuming? So I have to find sources, beyond his official site and his employer, that say he was employed by AOL? And that he's American? And that he was born in 1965? I don't think most bios on Wikipedia sites have all that, heh. Davescribe22 (talk) 15:11, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

@Davescribe22: We might accept a self-published source for the date of birth, if there are no contradicting sources. That's why I checked his website before removing it. Since it's not mentioned, and since I couldn't find any stories about him in the first five pages of Google hits, I deleted that bit of info. —C.Fred (talk) 15:14, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

• Move to Draft: space suggested. I can move the article into draft space and restore it back to its prior form; draft space gives a little more latitude in sourcing requirements while you work on the article. That will also forestall a second deletion of the article—since right now, it's just about eligible for speedy deletion. @Davescribe22: Does that seem like a good course of action to you? —C.Fred (talk) 15:15, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
