Rihard Ursini Blagay (17 August 1786 – 14 March 1858) was a Slovenian nobleman, botanist and patron of the arts.
Early life
He was born as younger son of Count Josef Maria Franz Georg Leon Ursini von Blagay (1759-1831) and his first wife, Countess Maria Anna von Auersperg (1764-1787).[1]
Biography
He organized numerous cultural gatherings of Slovene enlighteners in the Polhov Gradec Castle, where he married Baroness Antonia von Billichgrätz zu Baumkircherthurm und Hilzenegkh (1791-1867) in 1808. As one of the first mayors of the Ljubljana district, he operated in Slovenia. He also collected Slovene plant species for the naturalist Heinrich Freyer.[2]
