I've installed PHPA on the server. It hasn't exploded yet. ;) After it's run for a bit I'll compare load / pages served before and after and see if it's helping. --Brion
- why do you use a user name so different from your email name ? That's very confusing :-) What is the history of your user name ? It sounds asian. Mine is there
Ok. That's a nice origin. Tough user name to remember right though :). See ya. Ant
POOF, you're a sysop. --LDC
Suit yourself, remove it if you wish. I had thought that the article could benefit from a photo of the species as it is seen in nature, since such animals are far more common than the relative handful of pets. I try to avoid layout and copy editing because I do not have the talent or the knowledge for them; the photo is one I had in the drawer that I thought could be of some use.

I thought you could ban user accounts? It wasn't the ip address that was a problem. It was the user account "User:67.121.169.17 (Michael)." MB 15:27, Aug 6, 2003 (UTC)
Hi there,
Just noticed your alogia entry (which is great by the way). You might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Psychopathology which really just involves adding Wikipedia:WikiProject Psychopathology/Review to your watch list and checking out any new entries that get added, or perhaps adding any to the list that you create.
Cheers - Vaughan 21:16, 13 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Hello again,
From my talk page:
Should I add the articles I have done to Wikipedia:WikiProject Psychopathology, or just new ones in the future?
Either is fine, and thanks for adding the entries ! I'm away at the moment but I'll look forward to reading them through when I get back and have more wiki time. - Vaughan 15:41, 26 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Minneapolis meetup
Hello Marumari. I'm contacting you since you are listed at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Minnesota. I'm going to be at a conference in Minneapolis and am planning a Wikipedia meetup for October 8. If you are near Minneapolis at that time, please see Wikipedia:Meetup/Minneapolis. Angela. 20:50, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
Dead External Links
Hi there. I've been contributing to this project and was thinking that it might be time to have a more up-to-date list to work on. It's just an idea though - it's not like we're running out of dead links to fix or anything. --Spondoolicks 17:52, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Totally Unrelated Roller Derby Question

- I can't make it this year, sigh. I'm moving to San Francisco in June, and I need to save all the money I can. My league isn't a member of the WFTDA anyways (long story) so I wouldn't be able to skate, anyways. :( But the Bay Area Derby Girls are, so hopefully next year, I'll be able to skate in the tourney. -- Marumari 15:06, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Dead external links
Hello there, Do you think you would have time to regenerate the files for the dead external links project? Not that we finished them all, but they are feeling a little stale. Thanks so much Open2universe 12:21, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Could you please help me
If you would please take a few moments and help me understand why you created the ciswoman and cisman redirect pages...
What was the motivation/logic behind creating them? What is the source of a definition for the words that made you link them to cisgender? —Preceding unsigned comment added by FemVoice (talk • contribs) 15:35, 11 June 2006
Further Help Changing a Username
I've had an ongoing issue with changing my username here on Wikipedia and was recently pointed to contact a developer. All of the information about the case can be found here [[1]] and here [[2]] but allow me to quickly summarize. I registered the account user:Mvelinder awhile ago but I failed to associate an email address with the account, taking away the possibility of me being able to retrieve it. I'm hoping a developer can finally resolve this issue for me and allow me to remain consistent with usernames across the internet by reverting back to my old account of user:Mvelinder. So in the end, I'm asking for the username of user:Mvelinder2 to be changed to user:Mvelinder. Thanks for the help. Mvelinder2 21:12, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I was able to contact an admin who resolved the issue for me. Thanks to everyone who helped. Issue resolved, feel free to archive this. Mvelinder 15:33, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedian Rollergirls
I removed the roller derby article from that category, which is just for Wikipedia users who are rollergirls. We could make it a 'See also', though. If you do that, put a colon in front of it, like this: * [[:Category:Wikipedian RollerGirls]]
. That will cause it to link to the category rather than making the article be in the category. —mjb 00:56, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I'll think about how I want to approach this a while, and either leave it out or move it elsewhere. -- Marumari 01:07, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- One thing I haven't gotten around to is linking to the various derby related Y! Groups, other than bankedtracknews… do you want to do that? Also, I'm working with Cat O'Ninetails on the DMOZ links. You wouldn't happen to have an editor account on there, would you? We could use some help… before we ask about the right way to set up a regional hierarchy, we need to get the descriptions of each league site updated to indicate what kind of content is on that site. There are a lot of sites to check; I added a ton of them somewhat blindly, just making sure they loaded but not reviewing their content. —mjb 01:28, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Nice Photos
Hi Marumari!
Nice to see your addition to FPC, I've had a look through your other pix and they look pretty good! These are my favs: Image:Swallowtail dying.jpg, Image:Pivoting king vulture.jpg, Image:Mexican wolf lounging.jpg (I'd even try feature the mexican wolf one). Well done, but I wonder if I could ask you to upload in higher res? Thanks, --Fir0002 06:22, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Question
If I uploaded Image:Floating on water.jpg to the Diffraction article, would you support? BTW, what caption should I add if i were to put it on that article?Nnfolz 22:01, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Zebra Heliconian
Marumari - I'm getting ready to nominate your Zebra Heliconian image. Given the current tension on the FPC page and my tendency to be a stickler on image quality, I have a feeling any nomination I make will be heavily scrutinized by some of the participants. I have no problem with 1000 pixel images -- all of mine were 1000x667 originally, until I was strongly encouraged to go larger. I just think it would be prudent to go a little bigger with your Zebra Heliconian image prior to nomination, especially given the comments made about the resolution of your Mexican Wolf image.
Also, I'm thinking it could be improved with a bit of edge sharpening. If you'd like, I could give it a go... just supply me with a file to work from. (I can handle pretty much any format, RAW included.) If the thought of somebody else working on your images bothers you, then just let me know if you will be making a bigger version available. Thanks... -- moondigger 22:32, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- BTW, I've been moving this week (and for the next week or so.) Let's deal with the Zebra Heliconian thing when I get back. Thanks! --Marumari 13:22, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Life has been kind of crazy for me lately, and I've only had time to contribute a few comments here and there on the FPC page. I will be away from Wikipedia for a while starting tomorrow (July 29); when I return I'll nominate your photo if it hasn't already been nominated. Again, sorry about the lack of communication. -- Moondigger 14:39, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Featured Picture
Congratulations, and thanks for taking it for us. Raven4x4x 09:44, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
This is to let you know the Featured Picture you uploaded and/or nominated Image:Mexican wolf lounging.jpg is scheduled to be Picture of the day on September 23, 2006, when it will be featured on the Main Page. Congratulations! howcheng {chat} 17:09, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi! You supported the Hummingbird Hawk-moth FPC (like everyone else who commented), but HighInBC uploaded an edit that absolutely no-one commented on. I can't promote the image without knowing which version to promote, so now I have to ask everyone which version they prefer. Would you mind specifying which image you are supporting? Thanks. Raven4x4x 09:28, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Move / Zebra heliconian nom
So, are you around? How did the move go? I'd like to nominate your Zebra heliconian shot as a featured picture soon. As previously mentioned, you're likely to see some resistance to a 1000-pixel wide image. (I'm seeing some resistance to a 1200 pixel image right now.) Any chance you could upload a larger version, maybe with some edge sharpening applied? There's a good page about various sharpening techniques here (scroll almost to the bottom of the page to find the section on edge sharpening): http://www.bythom.com/sharpening.htm -- Moondigger 20:08, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to hear the move went well. I can handle pretty much any format, PNG, PSD, TIFF, RAW, whatever - so send a file if you want to. My e-mail address registered here works fine. Otherwise I can nominate it later, when you're fully unpacked and set up. I just didn't want you to think I forgot about it. -- Moondigger 00:41, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Dead external links
Hi, I noticed that you seem to have taken a major role in Wikipedia:Dead external links. Are you still involved in this? This project is still working off a database dump from 8 months ago, which is ancient by wikipedia standards, wikipedia has almost doubled in size since then. Any chance of your updating this? I was thinking of doing some work on the dead links, but I'd really rather be working off an up to date list. --Xyzzyplugh 20:06, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi back!
Hi there! It's so funny you stumbled across my user page; just a few days before I had stumbled across *yours*! It was so nice of you to introduce yourself! It does seem like there aren't many of us. Nice to know there's another Minnesota woman around. :) BTW, I found your page because I LOVE your Mexican wolf featured picture. (I like to check out the MN Zoo pics when I see them.) It is just gorgeous! Thanks again for the greeting; hello back! Estreya 14:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- It was really a pleasure to meet you today! Seemed like a whirlwind meetup and I didn't really have enough time to get to chat with everyone I would have liked to. I hope we can get together again to talk more sometime! Seems like we have a lot in common. ;) Estreya 00:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the note on my user page. I'll feel free to pillage the article Minnesota RollerGirls at will now. I noticed your user page when there was still a category for rollergirl wikipedians. For an administrator you seem okay.Michael J Swassing 04:44, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the note on my user page, too! The MNRG article looks good. You asked for some feedback, so here are a few minor suggestions:
- Wikify the dates in the table
- Avoid redirects in wikilinks for LLC and city+state combos
- Italicize newspaper/magazine names
- Use en dash in scores and win-loss records
I suggest changing the Teams section to qualify that it's "as of 2007" (since there are no references). Did they always have 4 teams, or did they start with two and add two later?
Who founded the league? Were there any splits?
For its LLC status you can use this URL as a reference, but the not-for-profit philosophy is more difficult to verify. I'd add a "According to the league's Web site…" to any such claim, if you can't find a reference for 501(c) tax-exempt status or a disclosure of the league's articles of organization, since normally Minnesota Statute 322B.326 would apply, which says that an LLC's profits and losses are distributed among the corporation's members.
The sentence Playing and practicing at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium since 2005, spectator attendance levels average 2000 has a grammar problem: it sounds like the attendance levels were playing and practicing. Also, "levels" is superfluous. I would say Since 2005, the league has played and practiced at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, where spectator attendance averages around 2,000 per bout.
In the phrase help benefit women, "help" is superfluous.
There are 80 skaters on the roster, and the league "is composed of" four home teams with max. 20 players each, but are there additional Minnesota RollerGirls-in-training who are not on teams? Or is everyone in the organization on a team?
Does the all-star team have a name?
The all-star team's record is given from the beginning of '06, but did they play before that, too? If not, instead of Since the beginning of 2006, I'd say Since the team's formation at the beginning of 2006.
Near the end of the roller derby article, there's a mention of the Right Guard and Aleve commercials. Can you please add the Coca-Cola/NASCAR commercial to that same list item? Thanks!
That should do ya. :) —mjb 18:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, here's another issue: the home teams have been playing interleague bouts. The article currently implies that only the interleague team does that.
The ones I know about:
- June 16, 2007: Cincinnati Rollergirls All-Stars 140, MNRG Garda Belts 121
- October 20, 2007: MNRG Dagger Dolls 80, No Coast Derby Girls Hood Ratz 26
- October 20, 2007: Cincinnati Rollergirls All-Stars 119, MNRG Garda Belts 51
- November 10, 2007: Denver Roller Dolls Mile High Club 117, MNRG Atomic Bombshells 71
- November 10, 2007: Duke City 81, MNRG Rockits 76
You should clarify that the table covers only the interleague games played by the all-star team (is that correct?) or add these other games in. —mjb 18:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Marumari. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Marumari. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.

ArbCom 2019 special circular

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Invitation to join the Fifteen Year Society
Dear Marumari,
I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Fifteen Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for fifteen years or more.
Best regards, Urhixidur (talk) 16:18, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled
A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement
The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.
Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:
- Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
- Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of January 2023.
Inactive administrators are encouraged to engage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for re-engaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to re-engage with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.
Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 08:38, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
