Holochain is an open-source framework to develop serverless applications.[1] It is a different type of Digital Ledger Technology (DLT) that employs a combination of BitTorrent, Git, and cryptographic signatures.[1][2] The main difference between Holochain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) is that Holochain is agent-centric while other DLTs are data-centric.[3] This difference makes it more efficient than blockchain and it has been shown that Holochain is able to run on a Raspberry Pi, contrary to blockchains.[4] However, Holochain has not yet been tested widely in real life environments.[1]
