In 2016, at the invitation of Governor Reinaldo Azambuja, he graduated from the position of deputy to occupy one of the most important portfolios of the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Secretary of State for Justice and Public Security (Sejusp), where he served for one year and eight months.

José Carlos Barbosa (born October 26, 1964), professionally known as Barbosinha, is a Brazilian politician, affiliated with the Progressive Party, was elected vice-governor of Mato Grosso do Sul in 2022, with governor Eduardo Riedel. He started his career at the age of 13, in 1977, he worked as a banker and studied Law at the Unigran College of Brazil, in Dourados (Mato Grosso do Sul).

In 1989 he became mayor of Angélica[1], at the age of 23, In 2007 took over SANESUL - Mato Grosso do Sul Sanitation Company[2], In 2012 he was elected president of AESBE - Brazilian Association of State Sanitation Companies, In 2014 he was elected state deputy in Mato Grosso do Sul, In 2016 he was secretary at SEJUSP - Secretary of State of Justice and Public Security[3], In 2019 he was elected for the second term of state deputy in Mato Grosso do Sul[4].
